Conflict

Conflict . . .

Mo Yu and Mo Qingcheng joined Qin Wentian as they ventured out, with Little Rascal enthusiastically tagging along, its tail wagging in excitement, especially upon spotting the adorable little Xin'er in Qin Wentian's arms.

Little Xin'er gazed at Mo Qingcheng with wide, curious eyes and asked, "Sister, are you an immortal fairy?"

Mo Qingcheng was taken aback for a moment before she burst into laughter. Children's words were always sincere and unfiltered, and Xin'er's question was genuine, not flattery.

"May I hug you, big sister?" Mo Qingcheng asked with a warm smile.

"Okay!" Xin'er replied, her tiny arms wide open, eagerly embracing Mo Qingcheng. Her innocent eyes fixated on this ethereal figure before her, captivated by the enchanting presence of the "immortal fairy."

"Why... I'm an uncle while you are an elder sister..." Qin Wentian sighed in mock disappointment.

"Don't be sad, Brother-in-law. How about I give you a hug?" Mo Yu playfully offered, extending her arms toward Qin Wentian. His exasperated response only made her grin mischievously.

Mo Yu then walked between them, holding Mo Qingcheng's hand with her left and Qin Wentian's arm with her right, creating a lively scene. She suggested, "Let's go and see what kind of girl Mo Feng has fallen in love with."

In the heart of the Royal Capital, an inn stood with an elegant and distinctive charm. The Drunken Wine Inn had only been open for about two years but had already established itself as one of the most prominent establishments in the area. Its decor was exquisite yet not overly opulent, exuding a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

The inn was renowned for its extensive selection of wines, and while the prices were steep, there was a unique rule that set it apart: if a patron got drunk in the Drunken Wine Inn, everything they consumed, be it food or drink, would be on the house. This rule attracted two main types of customers: those who didn't mind the extravagant prices and those who cherished wine above all else – the true connoisseurs and, quite simply, the inebriated.

"Drunken Wine Inn," Qin Wentian mused as he recalled an old friend. A faint smile crossed his face, amplified by Mo Yu's description of the peculiar rule. Could it be that the inn's owner was "that" person?

The inn was quite spacious, comprising three levels, with the most expensive wines found on the third level. Lavish rooms, separated by pearl curtains, created an enchanting ambiance, accompanied by melodious music.

Qin Wentian and his companions were led to an elegant room. Through the pearl curtains, they spotted two figures sitting opposite each other. The young man possessed a handsome appearance, his features still tinged with youthful charm. The young woman, dressed in pristine white, exuded an air of grace. She had an aura of purity and gentleness, her beauty enhanced by sparkling eyes that drew people in.

As Qin Wentian and the others observed silently, faint smiles played on the lips of both Qin Wentian and Mo Qingcheng. It seemed that Mo Feng had a discerning taste in companions.

Qin Wentian couldn't help but have an inkling that Mo Feng's pursuit of romance might not unfold as smoothly as he hoped. In another elegantly appointed room, several silhouettes could be discerned. Among them, two were Heavenly Dipper Sovereigns, their unwavering focus directed squarely at Mo Feng. These individuals clearly served as bodyguards for the girl who had captured Mo Feng's heart.

The presence of Heavenly Dipper Sovereigns as guards indicated that the young woman was not from Chu but most likely hailed from the Qing Continent, where the renowned Greencloud Pavilion was located.

"Do you really have to depart so soon? Couldn't you stay a little longer?" Mo Feng's voice carried a tinge of reluctance as he gazed intently at the girl.

"Mhm." The young girl nodded, her voice gentle as she responded, "Is there a reason for me to stay?"

"Silly, just say you want her to stay. He's so clueless," Mo Yu whispered impatiently, her anxiety outstripping even Mo Feng's. It was clear that he had no grasp of women's emotions.

"But... if I want to see you again in the future, where can I find you?" Mo Feng gathered his resolve and asked.

"I live in the Qing Continent. If you ever wish to see me, you can find me there," the young girl replied with a warm smile.

"Okay! I promise that I'll come to find you in the future. You won't leave, right?" Mo Feng's face lit up with a simple, heartfelt smile as he heard the girl's words. She didn't hesitate to share her home address with him.

"I won't. This time, I left home for a short trip because I was feeling a bit down. My permanent residence is in the Qing Continent, so why would I leave?"

"Great! It's a promise then. I'll definitely come to find you in the future. You can't pretend not to know me, okay?" Mo Feng relaxed, taking a sip of wine. Although wine was supposed to bolster courage, he still lacked the bravery to confess his feelings today. The girl was simply too exceptional, making Mo Feng feel inadequate and hesitant to express the emotions in his heart.

"He's hopeless," Mo Yu muttered in frustration. Her voice was so loud that it nearly drove her mad. Mo Feng and the girl exchanged silent glances, uncertain of how to proceed, and began concentrating on their meal, as if at a loss.

Qin Wentian shared a knowing look with Mo Qingcheng and chuckled. The innocent love between these two young individuals was refreshingly simple and honest.

"Brother-in-law, it's clear that Mo Feng loves this girl. He came here today to confess his feelings, but he chickened out! What a coward!" Mo Yu fumed, her voice echoing loudly. Her intention was unmistakable, and Qin Wentian raised an eyebrow, grasping her meaning.

Indeed, Mo Feng was taken aback when he heard Mo Yu's declaration. A moment later, he turned beet red as he gazed at the girl before him. The young girl's eyes sparkled with a mix of panic and shyness, but she didn't lower her head. Though her face was flushed, she met Mo Feng's gaze, her clear eyes causing his heart to race.

Qin Wentian deduced that the girl had feelings for Mo Feng as well based on her reactions.

"Brother-in-law is here too?" Mo Feng's heart raced, for his brother-in-law had been his idol since he was a child. Back then, didn't many people also scoff at the love between him and Sister Qingcheng? However, his brother-in-law had never given up and persevered for a decade, ultimately succeeding in winning Sister Qingcheng's heart and bringing her back home.

With these thoughts in mind, Mo Feng's excitement grew, and his face flushed crimson as he gazed at the girl and confessed, "Ling Yue, I love you."

The girl's eyes welled up with tears at his heartfelt words. However, a radiant smile gleamed through her teary gaze as she responded to Mo Feng, "Then, you'll have to work hard, okay?"

Upon hearing that the girl didn't reject him outright, Mo Feng couldn't contain his excitement. She had encouraged him to persevere, which was a form of tacit approval. Although Ling Yue hadn't explicitly agreed to be pursued, her lack of rejection was enough for Mo Feng.

"Do you still have to leave?" Mo Feng asked, his heart brimming with hope.

Ling Yue's beautiful eyes shimmered with a hint of sadness as she nodded. "My parents won't allow me to stay outside for too long. They've already sent people to fetch me. You will work hard, won't you? You have to come to the Qing Continent to find me in the future."

Mo Feng's eyes filled with determination. Ling Yue's words were all he needed to hear. He gazed at her with deep emotion, then summoned the courage to ask, "Ling Yue, before you leave... can I kiss you?"

Ling Yue blushed, glancing nervously around as she clutched her dress tightly.

"A hopeless toad trying to woo a heavenly swan?"

A cold, sarcastic voice cut through the air. The pearl curtains were pushed aside as several figures entered the room. Ling Yue's bodyguards closed ranks around her protectively.

"Dong Yi, what's the meaning of this?" Ling Yue fixed her gaze on the young man at the forefront, who appeared to be around twenty years old. He was clearly seething with anger, and there was a heavy dose of disdain and mockery in his eyes as he looked at Mo Feng.

"Dear Ling Yue, I traveled all the way from the Qing Continent to this little Chu Country for your sake. Can't you see how deeply I love you? Who does this guy think he is, sitting here with you?" Dong Yi pointed an accusing finger at Mo Feng.

"Who are you to meddle in my affairs?" Ling Yue's expression turned to anger as she confronted Dong Yi.

"Alright, I won't meddle in your affairs. But he's a different story." Dong Yi's eyes turned sharp as he directed his gaze at Mo Feng. "Kneel in front of me and loudly declare that you're a hopeless toad lusting after the heavenly swan, and I might spare you today."

"You're the toad!" Mo Yu burst into the room, shouting at Dong Yi.

"Your reinforcement?" Dong Yi sneered. "Mo Feng, a member of the Mo Residence. I didn't care about you before, but who would have thought you'd be so audacious? It's one thing if you don't want to kneel today, but I'm afraid your Mo Residence won't be able to handle the consequences."

"Who are you? Do you even have the qualifications to threaten me?" Mo Feng stared straight at Dong Yi.

"Mo Feng, it would be wise to kneel and apologize. Otherwise, the consequences for your Mo Residence will be unbearable," a young man beside Dong Yi added. It was none other than Bu Xiao, whom Qin Wentian had encountered in Sky Harmony City, and he was currently Autumn Snow's boyfriend.

"Bu Xiao," Mo Feng recognized Bu Xiao and knew that he was an envoy from the Greencloud Imperial Empire sent to manage affairs in Chu. Bu Xiao held a high position.

"Bu Xiao, do you dare to interfere in my matters?" Ling Yue's eyes turned cold.

"I wouldn't dare interfere in Miss Ling Yue's matters. However, Mo Feng clearly doesn't know his place. He dared to make such a request to Miss Ling Yue. Since Dong Yi is a guest of the Greencloud Imperial Empire, I will naturally stand by his side," Bu Xiao replied calmly. Dong Yi also hailed from the Qing Continent, was a disciple of the transcendent power Misty Peak, and had fallen in love with Ling Yue.

Ling Yue stared at her bodyguards, but she heard Dong Yi coldly addressing Mo Feng, "Even if Ling Yue were to help you, she's leaving soon anyway. If you don't kneel now, I can assure you that the consequences for the Mo Residence will be unimaginable."

"Think you can escape?" Dong Yi snorted. Mo Feng's face twisted in agony. The Greencloud Imperial Empire was closely affiliated with the Greencloud Pavilion, and Ling Yue was evidently connected to this transcendent power. Mo Feng felt the mounting pressure as he realized Ling Yue truly liked him. Otherwise, she would have rejected him outright and not encouraged him to persevere.

The confrontation caused a commotion in the Drunken Wine Inn. Many onlookers turned their attention to the scene, and even the inn's owner made an appearance. The youthful-looking owner approached and calmly said, "Can we resolve this matter elsewhere?"

"Immortal Drunken Wine, as a Heavenly Dipper Sovereign, you'd better not meddle in this," Bu Xiao retorted coldly, causing Mo Feng's body to go cold. They didn't even respect a Heavenly Dipper Sovereign? However, in truth, a Heavenly Dipper Sovereign held little weight before a transcendent power. Mo Feng paled, realizing he didn't want to involve his brother-in-law, Qin Wentian, and Sister Qingcheng in this matter!
