Killing Their Way Over

Killing Their Way Over . . .

With the arrival of Grand Xia's ascendants in Chu, Fairy Qingmei and her companions wasted no time in joining the fray.

Currently, within the Mo Residence, a formidable assembly of five ascendants had gathered. Among them were Fairy Qingmei, Old Xing, the elderly matriarch and leader of Mystic Moon Hall, as well as Vice Palace Lord Chu Lanjiang.

As they set foot within the Mo Residence, their dominating auras sent shockwaves through the residents. Even while standing still, their palpable power left no room for defiance or confrontation.

The inhabitants of the Mo Residence, including Old Man Mo himself, were taken aback by this formidable assembly. They were utterly clueless about the identity and intentions of these individuals.

However, once Mo Qingcheng arrived on the scene, a collective sigh of relief swept through the Mo Residence. Mo Qingcheng exchanged courteous greetings with the five ascendants. In particular, Fairy Qingmei's presence, reminiscent of Qing'er, the other great love of Qin Wentian's life, did not go unnoticed.

The residents were further astonished when they learned the truth: these five ascendants were Qin Wentian's trusted subordinates.

Mo Qingcheng proceeded to brief them on the tumultuous state of Chu, where ascendants from various powers had converged.

"Should we evacuate the palace lord?" Fairy Qingmei suggested.

Mo Qingcheng declined, explaining, "He's concerned about implicating others and is determined to stay. Don't worry; I have a plan to handle this."

Fairy Qingmei gazed at Mo Qingcheng, her eyes shimmering with admiration, before affirming, "As long as the palace mistress is confident, we will place our trust in you. Shall we await their arrival here?"

"Yes, we'll wait for them here. They should be here soon," Mo Qingcheng replied with composure. Although she projected unwavering confidence, her comrades couldn't help but feel a tinge of anxiety. Would they emerge from this unscathed?

As predicted by Qin Wentian, the other Grand Xia ascendants had chosen to confront the situation head-on. Having already enlisted the Darkshadow Sovereign for Qin Wentian's assassination, they seemed determined to eliminate him completely, leaving no room for retreat.

Before their physical arrival, an ominous presence emanated from their advancing group, casting a foreboding pall over the Mo Residence. Inside, anxiety rippled through the inhabitants as they witnessed their imminent doom.

"As expected, you've come," the enemy ascendants sneered upon seeing Fairy Qingmei and her companions. They had anticipated that Qin Wentian would still be within the Mo Residence, convalescing from his injuries.

Mo Qingcheng confronted them boldly. "What brings you to my Mo Residence?"

"Your residence?" The Greencloud Sovereign found this hilarious. Did Mo Qingcheng not grasp the gravity of their situation?

"Mo Qingcheng, Qin Wentian indiscriminately massacred transcendent powers of Grand Xia. Today, all of us have united for the cause of justice, and our mission is to rid Grand Xia of this malignant growth. Every resident of the Mo Residence now bears the mark of guilt, and all of you shall pay the price," declared the Shi Ancestor, his tone icy.

"I strongly advise you to leave now. I can guarantee that if there's a single instance of injury or death within my Mo Residence today, the rivers of Grand Xia will soon run as red as blood. Regardless of your sect or clan, all shall be reduced to ruins," Mo Qingcheng's voice rang out, her eyes emanating a chilling frost that sent shivers down the ascendants' spines.

"Are you attempting to intimidate us?" The Wang Ancestor scoffed.

"Intimidation?" Mo Qingcheng fixed her gaze on the Wang Ancestor. "The Royal Sacred Region regards all of Grand Xia as a wasteland, so desolate that none of them deign to set foot here. Any single power in the Royal Sacred Region could effortlessly dominate the entirety of Grand Xia. My husband, Qin Wentian, aspired to reunify Grand Xia simply because a fragmented Grand Xia is pitifully weak. So feeble that any outsider could effortlessly crush it if they so pleased. We returned from the Royal Sacred Region alone because of our wedding. Thus, we didn't bring any experts from our sects here. Do you think that you are worthy of such audacity before me, given your limited cultivation?"

As Mo Qingcheng spoke, her eyes swept across the assembly. "Or perhaps you believe that the Pill Emperor Hall's destruction will bring forth Jun Yu, the once-arrogant disciple of an elder-level figure in the Royal Sacred Sect? I wonder if any of you present hail from the Hua Clan? Hua Taixu is now part of the Core Faction in the Royal Sacred Region. If you still confine your ambitions to Grand Xia, that would be truly disappointing."

The Hua Clan's old ancestor stiffened, startled by the revelation. Hua Taixu had become a member of the Core Faction in the Royal Sacred Sect? While he was uncertain about the Core Faction's significance, Mo Qingcheng's tone implied it was formidable even within the Royal Sacred Sect.

"Is what you're saying true?" the Hua Clan's ancestor inquired.

"Hua Taixu and Qin Wentian both reached the Immortal Martial Realm in the Royal Sacred Region. Qin Wentian ranked first, while Hua Taixu and another genius shared second place. Consequently, they received invitations to join the Core Faction of the Royal Sacred Sect. Presently, Hua Taixu's status far surpasses Jun Yu's. Whether you choose to believe me or not is up to you. I've said all I need to today. If you depart now, I'm willing to extend an invitation for you to attend my wedding with Qin Wentian, and then you will understand everything. As for your concerns regarding the reunification of Grand Xia, it will come to pass one way or another. However, Wentian does not seek to annihilate all the existing transcendent powers. Should you persist in your reckless actions, don't blame us. I issue one final warning: should you refuse to retreat today, there will be no turning back. Even if you succeed in killing me and Qin Wentian, every transcendent power in Grand Xia will unite with us in death."

Mo Qingcheng's words cut like a blade. The ascendants from various transcendent powers stood dumbfounded, their minds racing to process her revelation. They pondered the formidable force backing Mo Qingcheng within the Royal Sacred Region, as well as the staggering strength of Qin Wentian.

It was only after Mo Qingcheng spoke that the inhabitants of the Mo Residence began to realize the extent of Qin Wentian's might. He genuinely sought to reunify Grand Xia.

"Let not her words beguile you. She says this because she knows that, combined, our ascendant powers outmatch hers. Don't forget the earlier audacity displayed by Qin Wentian. If we do not seize this opportunity to eliminate him, we may not get another chance," cautioned the Wang Ancestor. These were seasoned individuals, ancient beings who had lived for countless years. They could not easily trust words, nor were they easily swayed by threats.

"Now, we find ourselves in a favorable position. Delaying any further could shift the tides," the Greencloud Sovereign added, maintaining an icy composure. His words jolted the other ascendants, reminding them of the gravity of the situation. They had been stunned by Mo Qingcheng's words, but the Wang Ancestor and Greencloud Sovereign's logic was difficult to refute. Mo Qingcheng had made her statement because she sensed their weakness, and the current moment was the best opportunity to eliminate Qin Wentian.

"Why are you all still hiding?" The Shi Ancestor interjected with a cold remark. There was no surprise or shock on the faces of the other ascendants; they had long sensed the presence of concealed individuals.

Indeed, as the Shi Ancestor's voice fell, more figures emerged from the shadows.

"Jiang Clan, Thousand-Jue Alliance. Are you two here to join our coalition?" The Wang Ancestor stared at the newcomers. These individuals represented the ascendants from the Jiang Clan and the Thousand-Jue Alliance. The top-tier figures of every power in Grand Xia had congregated in the small country of Chu, drawing the attention of all within the region.

"Our alliance was already solidified within the Ouyang Aristocrat Clan. Do the two of you now harbor reservations?" Fairy Qingmei inquired. Ouyang Kuangsheng and Jiang Ting had already been wedded. In principle, the Jiang Clan should have been on their side, but the complexities of human emotions could not be overlooked. This was a situation where they were plainly at a disadvantage.

The two ascendants from the Jiang Clan were embroiled in a profound dilemma. Although Qin Wentian had assured them that he would not hold a grudge against their clan and that they could be friends, their actual interactions were limited. They understood that Qin Wentian harbored some animosity toward their Jiang Clan. After all, it had been the Jiang Clan that had agreed to the marriage alliance between Jiang Ting and the Ouyang Aristocrat Clan, forming an alliance with them. By supporting Qin Wentian today, they could potentially mend their relationship with him. These ascendants had personally witnessed Qin Wentian's strength and talents, and they knew that those who followed him now would likely be granted authority over a portion of Grand Xia if the nation were reunited.

However, by standing with Qin Wentian at this precarious juncture, they were exposing themselves to grave danger. High risk often promised high rewards. Everything hinged on their decision.

"Naturally. Our alliance was established at the Ouyang Aristocrat Clan. Now that Palace Lord Qin is in peril, how can the Jiang Clan stay neutral?" one of the Jiang Clan ascendants asserted. Their declaration provoked the resentment of other transcendent powers present. Their gazes then turned toward the ascendants from the Thousand-Jue Alliance. "What about the two of you?"

"Palace Lord Qin holds the position of a fifth-jue elder in our alliance. While he has yet to wield the authority of a fifth-jue elder, he remains a guest elder of the Thousand-Jue Alliance. As you all have gathered to deal with him, our alliance naturally stands with him," the two ascendants from the Thousand-Jue Alliance replied, their smiles apparent. With their responses, the countenances of the other ascendants darkened further.

Now, nine ascendants had declared their support for Qin Wentian.

"Mo Qingcheng extends her gratitude to the seniors for your assistance. After this incident, I, Mo Qingcheng, pledge that the Jiang Clan and Thousand-Jue Alliance will certainly be granted territories in the future Grand Xia," Mo Qingcheng said softly. Her words, though brief, reassured the four ascendants. After all, they had taken the risk of aiding Qin Wentian for the promise of future rewards.

"Do you truly intend to support the bane of Grand Xia?" the Shi Ancestor inquired icily as numerous ascendants exuded their auras.

"Everyone," the Hua Ancestor suddenly spoke. When all eyes turned to him, he continued slowly, "For this matter, my Hua Clan will no longer be involved. Farewell."

With those words, he and another ascendant from the Hua Clan departed, leaving the rest of their party looking pale. Their enemies had grown stronger while their faction had weakened.

But they still maintained an edge.

"KILL!" the Shi Ancestor commanded icily. The matter had reached a point of no return.

"Kill Qin Wentian, and their hopes will crumble!" the Greencloud Sovereign added, his voice like ice. Everyone nodded in agreement. The Thousand-Jue Alliance and the Jiang Clan had taken this risk because Qin Wentian was exceptionally exceptional. They had no desire to become pawns of others after the reunification of Grand Xia. Thus, they had decided to gamble their futures on Qin Wentian, on the shoulders of the young man who had wrought countless miracles!
