Doomsday of the Greencloud Sovereign . . .
Lin Shuai couldn't help but feel a sense of bewilderment. Given Qin Wentian's extraordinary strength, it was inconceivable that he would appear so weakened, unless something truly dire had occurred. But Qin Wentian remained tight-lipped, and Lin Shuai refrained from pressing the matter any further.
"Wentian, the Ancestor asked me to convey his regards. Unfortunately, he won't be able to attend your wedding in person," Lin Shuai relayed the message with a hint of regret.
Qin Wentian, however, responded with understanding and appreciation. "No worries. I'm deeply honored that the Ancestor still thinks of me." Although the Ancestor no longer had official ties to the Battle Sword Sect, he had once been their leader and a vice sect leader in the Royal Sacred Sect. Given the current tensions between Qin Wentian and the Royal Sacred Sect, it wouldn't be suitable for the Ancestor to attend the wedding. Lin Shuai and the others, on the other hand, could still attend as a personal gesture of friendship. Even if the Royal Sacred Sect learned of their presence, they would likely keep silent.
The Jiang Clan and Thousand-Jue Alliance ascendants were awestruck by the exchange. Ancestor? A character of such immense power was already beyond their wildest imaginations. The fact that the Ancestor had conveyed his regards was a testament to Qin Wentian's remarkable accomplishments in the Royal Sacred Region.
"Sister Lingshuang, will Foster Father be attending?" Qin Wentian inquired, turning to Ye Lingshuang. Ye Qingyun had once instructed him to extend an invitation, and failing to do so would be an affront.
"Of course, Royal Father will be there punctually. How could he possibly miss the grand wedding of you and Qingcheng?" Ye Lingshuang replied with a warm smile.
"Royal Father?" The gathered ascendants were astounded. A king from the Royal Sacred Region? Such a character was entirely beyond their comprehension. Yet this figure was Qin Wentian's foster father, and he would personally attend the grand wedding.
As they absorbed this revelation, the Jiang Clan and Thousand-Jue Alliance ascendants exchanged knowing glances, their expressions revealing a profound sense of relief. Thankfully, they had made the right choice. Had they not, today might have indeed been their doom. It was laughable that ascendants from various transcendent powers within Grand Xia had once united to kill Qin Wentian. As Mo Qingcheng had rightfully stated, even if they succeeded, Grand Xia would have been buried alongside him.
"We've chosen wisely... On the day of Qin Wentian's grand wedding, those other ascendants of Grand Xia will be utterly dumbfounded. I wonder what kind of individuals Mo Qingcheng's master and Qin Wentian's foster father are. We might have the chance to meet them in a few days," the Jiang Ancestor mused silently.
As fate would have it, all transcendent powers in Grand Xia would indeed be thunderstruck.
Mo Qingcheng dispatched the ascendants of the Azure Emperor Palace and the maidens of the Medicine Sovereign Valley, dividing them into three groups to traverse Grand Xia. They were tasked with extending invitations to each transcendent power. Those who received the invitations felt a deep sense of unease.
Take, for example, the Greencloud Pavilion. The Greencloud Sovereign had been monitoring the situation in Chu, and when the maidens and Old Xing arrived at the Pavilion, he contemplated fleeing Grand Xia.
He harbored no illusions; he knew that Qin Wentian and Mo Qingcheng harbored intense hatred for him. It was his scheme that had led Qin Wentian into the Darkshadow Sovereign's trap, resulting in severe injuries. He was almost certain that he had become the person Qin Wentian and Mo Qingcheng despised the most – the Greencloud Sovereign.
Cursing the Shi Ancestor and the other ascendants for missing the prime opportunity to eliminate Qin Wentian, the Greencloud Sovereign, after deep contemplation, reached a decision. He would leave, abandoning the Greencloud Pavilion entirely. Although the position of Greencloud Sovereign satisfied some of his ambitions, he had no choice but to depart.
The likelihood of Qin Wentian killing him was substantial, and even if Qin Wentian spared him, he would have no peace in the future.
The Greencloud Sovereign, one of Grand Xia's younger ascendants, had always been a solitary figure, driven by ambition and an unwavering determination. He had been a fervent advocate for Qin Wentian's demise, possessing a ruthlessness and spirit that surpassed many older ascendants. However, as events had unfolded to their current stage, regret was a futile emotion. His decision to depart was a resolute one, as he no longer wished to be embroiled in the ongoing turmoil.
The mention of Qin Wentian stirred a deep well of vengeance within the Greencloud Sovereign's heart. Everything had changed because of Qin Wentian's appearance. Qin Wentian had slain the Heavenly Dipper Sovereign, whom the Greencloud Sovereign had entrusted with the governance of the Greencloud Imperial Empire. Qin Wentian had even brazenly declared that if the Greencloud Sovereign sought revenge, he should come and face him directly. Such arrogance! Despite being a high-ranking ascendant, the Greencloud Sovereign found himself overshadowed by Qin Wentian in every way. Now, he was being forcibly banished.
Qin Wentian was still destined to marry a stunning woman, and their wedding day approached. The Greencloud Sovereign had never loathed anyone as intensely as he loathed Qin Wentian.
"Even if I flee, I want you to suffer in guilt and agony," the Greencloud Sovereign resolved coldly. His perception expanded, encompassing the entire Greencloud Pavilion as he commanded, "Bring Ling Yue to my chambers."
His voice brimmed with authority and dominance. Currently, Ling Yue was confined in her home. Her grandfather, upon hearing the Greencloud Sovereign's tone, dared not disobey. He knew the consequences well. If he defied the Greencloud Sovereign's orders, their entire clan would face annihilation. With reluctance, he released Ling Yue and accompanied her to the Greencloud Sovereign's quarters.
Upon seeing the Greencloud Sovereign's cold, piercing gaze, Ling Yue involuntarily trembled. Nevertheless, she bowed and paid her respects. "Ling Yue pays her respects to the Sovereign."
"Come and converse with me. The others may withdraw," the Greencloud Sovereign commanded with a dismissive wave of his hand. Although Ling Yue's grandfather was reluctant, he had no choice but to obey. He understood that the Greencloud Sovereign's wrath could mean death for them all. Reluctantly, he departed, leaving Ling Yue to face an even more terrifying fate.
"Stand up straight and approach me. Let me have a good look at you," the Greencloud Sovereign instructed Ling Yue. Although Ling Yue's heart pounded with terror, she complied and cautiously stepped closer.
"Are you afraid of me?" the Greencloud Sovereign inquired, noticing Ling Yue's trembling form. "Come closer."
"Yes," Ling Yue replied, her body quivering as she moved closer until she stood about five meters away from the Greencloud Sovereign.
The Greencloud Sovereign circled her, his eyes scrutinizing her figure. He then placed his hand under her chin, tilting her head up, and a malevolent fire gleamed in his eyes. Ling Yue's body quaked even more violently.
"Exquisite figure and top-notch looks," the Greencloud Sovereign commented with a cold laugh. Ling Yue paled, her fear growing as she bowed and implored, "Sovereign."
"By the way, it's been a while since I've had a woman. You're young and tender; you must taste delicious," the Greencloud Sovereign continued, returning to his seat while his eyes roamed over Ling Yue. "Undress."
"Sovereign, please spare me..." Ling Yue sobbed, dropping to her knees as her eyes welled up with tears.
"What? Are you unwilling? Do you dare to defy me?" the Greencloud Sovereign sneered. "Don't worry, I won't kill you. After you serve me, I'll have your clan send you to Chu. I want to show him that no matter how powerful he becomes, I can still make him feel guilt and regret. As for the Greencloud Pavilion, what does it matter if he destroys it? It's no longer my concern."
"Of course, there's also the possibility that Qin Wentian won't care about you anymore. But if he does, that young lad Mo Feng will surely resent him, won't he?" The Greencloud Sovereign grinned maliciously as he stared at Ling Yue, her lithe form quivering with terror. With a casual gesture, he pulled her towards him, his hands tracing the contours of her body as he silently chastised himself for not indulging in such pleasures sooner.
"Quickly undress. If you make me do so myself, I might injure you accidentally," the Greencloud Sovereign's voice turned as frigid as the cold wind that swept through the room.
"VILE CREATURE!"
Suddenly, a voice, icy as a glacier, thundered through the air. The Greencloud Sovereign jolted to his feet in astonishment, his expression darkening. "Who goes there?"
In strode a maiden, her white robes flowing gracefully. A veil concealed her face, but the palpable waves of fury that emanated from her were unmistakable. An arctic, murderous intent enveloped the Greencloud Sovereign, chilling him to his very soul.
"Young lady, rest assured. All is well now." The maiden approached Ling Yue, extending a helping hand to lift her from the floor. Ling Yue regarded the newcomer with bewildered eyes, still trembling.
"I am acting on orders from the Holy Maiden. She and Young Master Wentian had foreseen that this man might attempt to flee. They tasked me with monitoring him and ensuring his presence at their wedding. If he refuses, I can bring his lifeless body instead," the maiden declared with a calm demeanor. Ling Yue found solace in her embrace, her sobs reflecting her earlier terror. She was grateful that Sis Qingcheng and Brother-in-law had kept her safety in mind.
"Sister... Brother-in-law..." Ling Yue wiped away her tears, her heart swelling with gratitude as she thought of the two who hadn't forgotten her.
Meanwhile, the Greencloud Sovereign's countenance drained of color as he heard the maiden's words. He had underestimated their determination—they not only sent him an invitation but also dispatched someone to monitor his actions. Clearly, he was the object of their deepest loathing. Neither of them would spare him.
The maiden extended her hand, and in an instant, the Greencloud Sovereign was slammed to the ground. She was the leader of the entourage from the Medicine Sovereign Valley and the mightiest ascendant among them. The Greencloud Sovereign was powerless against her.
"If you refuse to cooperate, you'll leave me no choice," the maiden warned, her voice as cold as the frigid wind. She grasped the Greencloud Sovereign by his hair, cradling Ling Yue in her other arm, and soared into the skies. A palpable chill spread throughout the Greencloud Pavilion as bystanders raised their heads, witnessing their Sovereign being humiliated.
The Greencloud Sovereign, who had attempted a vile act against one of the female disciples in an attempt to take revenge on Young Master Wentian, was now being carried away like a defeated cur. The Holy Maiden and Young Master Wentian had ordered his capture and delivered a message to the Greencloud Pavilion. They could choose between two options as a token of gratitude for past favors: either submit to the Azure Emperor Palace or disband entirely within three days. If they chose submission, they were to bring the Greencloud Pavilion's leaders to attend Young Master Wentian and the Holy Maiden's wedding.
The maiden's voice reverberated through the air before she disappeared into the horizon with her captives, leaving the bewildered crowd behind.
The grand wedding between Young Master Wentian and the Holy Maiden—a reference to Qin Wentian and Mo Qingcheng—was now imminent.
Their once-mighty Sovereign had been humbled, dragged around like a dog by a subordinate.
The Greencloud Pavilion faced two choices: submission or complete dissolution.
"Ling Yue is about to experience a change of fortune," many murmured. The status of Qin Wentian and Mo Qingcheng exceeded their wildest expectations. Even an ascendant of such power served under them.
It wasn't just the Greencloud Pavilion; other transcendent powers in Grand Xia received their invitations. As the experts from Mo Qingcheng descended upon their territories, they sensed that the skies of Grand Xia were shifting, portending a new era.
