Complete Shock

Complete Shock . . .

Father Chen inspected Wan Jiansheng's injuries, noting that his arm had been severely damaged by immortal energy. Only through the use of numerous precious immortal-ranked herbs and medicines did he have a chance at recovery.

"Brother Wan, our Chen Clan will do its utmost to treat these injuries," Father Chen assured, glancing at Wan Jiansheng's father. The Wan Clan held power on par with his own Chen Clan, and he was keen not to offend them.

Turning his gaze back to Purgatory, Father Chen couldn't hide his surprise. He had already sensed the extraordinary aura surrounding this maiden, possibly indicating her status as an immortal. Now, it was confirmed, and not only that, her strength exceeded his expectations. It appeared that within Lin Shuai's sect, there were individuals with remarkable talents whose achievements surpassed even their elder members.

"Our Chen Clan will take responsibility for treating the injuries. Maiden, a simple apology to nephew Jiansheng will settle this matter," Father Chen proposed.

"Brother Chen, is an apology enough?" Wan Jiansheng's father interjected, unwilling to let the matter rest so easily.

"What would Brother Wan suggest?" Father Chen inquired.

"This maiden is too audacious. Hand her over to me, and I will take her back to the Wan Clan," Wan Jiansheng's father demanded.

"Father, marrying Little Yi to Lin Shuai is already a loss of face considering her status. Yet, members of Lin Shuai's sect dare to act so arrogantly? They cannot be forgiven." Huo Yan declared, his tone icy. The fact that this maiden possessed such a high cultivation base irked him.

"Purgatory," Qin Wentian's voice rang out, drawing everyone's attention. Purgatory obediently moved to his side.

"Today is my senior brother's wedding day. Let's not ruin the festive atmosphere," Qin Wentian advised. Purgatory remained silent and returned to his side.

The onlookers speculated about Qin Wentian's identity, noting that the female immortal instantly obeyed his commands.

"Senior brother, our sect came here today to offer our heartfelt blessings. However, someone intended to humiliate you on this important day. Forgive me, but I cannot tolerate it," Qin Wentian addressed Lin Shuai. Then, he turned to Huo Yan.

"Earlier, your words were filled with disrespect. I have a single question for you. Given that your cultivation is inferior to my senior brother's, how did you summon the audacity to utter such words? Are you relying solely on your so-called status to bolster your arrogance?"

Huo Yan retorted, "I'm Little Yi's brother-in-law. Can't I offer some criticism?" His dissatisfaction was evident as he locked eyes with Qin Wentian.

"Since you're her brother-in-law, it means you belong to the same generation as my senior brother, Lin Shuai. However, despite that, your cultivation base is inferior to his. What qualifications do you have to speak so audaciously?" Qin Wentian inquired, his voice steady.

Huo Yan responded with a cold laugh. "The Chen Clan may be renowned, but so is my Huo Clan. This is why Chen Xue and I are considered a suitable match. But tell me, who do you think your sect is?"

"In that case, you're using your status as a descendant of the Huo Clan to meddle in this matter? Essentially, you believe your birth makes you superior to others. If you took a step back and viewed things objectively, you'd realize you're nothing but trash," Qin Wentian calmly retorted. "You used your identity from the Huo Clan to insult and humiliate my senior brother and a maiden from my group, calling her a lowly slave and slut. Surely the Huo Clan must be very formidable?"

A bystander interjected, "Truly, a young one who hasn't experienced much of the world. The Huo Clan is indeed a peak power in this city, with numerous peak-level immortal-foundation characters."

Huo Yan, standing tall and proud, wore a smug smile. To him, being associated with the Huo Clan was a matter of great pride.

"Brother Chen, should we not eject such individuals immediately?" Wan Jiansheng's father suggested coldly.

"How does the Chen Clan intend to treat its guests?" another individual chimed in. As Father Chen pondered how to respond, a middle-aged man in green robes approached, wearing an expression of discontent. Father Chen was taken aback; it seemed that the people from Lin Shuai's sect had offended him. Most likely, it was because the immortal maiden had injured Wan Jiansheng. It appeared that the only solution now was to expel Lin Shuai's sect members.

"You people are truly laughable," Chen Ao berated as he stared at Qin Wentian's group.

The fathers of Wan Jiansheng and Huo Yan exchanged knowing smiles when they noticed the green-robed middle-aged man approaching to restore order.

"Brother Fang," they all greeted, bowing respectfully.

"These people are overly audacious. Their actions even surprise Brother Fang," Huo Yan's father remarked.

"Uncle Fang, my apologies," Huo Yan said, bowing with politeness.

"Who is your uncle?" Suddenly, the atmosphere turned icy. Huo Yan froze in place, raising his head to meet the cold gaze of the middle-aged man in green robes. He witnessed a flash of coldness in the man's eyes as he delivered an icy rebuke. "As the son-in-law of the Chen Clan, you insulted and humiliated Lin Shuai's sect on his wedding day and proclaimed to have an extraordinary status. Do you have no shame?"

"Brother Fang?" Huo Yan's father blinked, bewildered by the green-robed middle-aged man's demeanor. He couldn't fathom why he was behaving this way. This man hailed from an immortal-king ranked power and possessed an esteemed status. Normally, he was humble and approachable. If there weren't a compelling reason, he wouldn't act like this.

"Huo Han, how do you usually discipline your child? I had believed that you were someone worth knowing. From today onwards, I, Fang, sever all ties with your Huo Clan," the middle-aged man declared in a resounding voice, shocking those nearby. They were entirely at a loss for what was happening.

"What is going on?" Huo Yan's father stammered, standing beside the astonished Wan Jiansheng's father.

Even before he could complete his sentence, the green-robed middle-aged man cast a disapproving look in his direction and spoke sternly, "Wan Jiansheng publicly attempted to take liberties with a maiden from Lin Shuai's sect. Do you think I'm blind? The punishment he's receiving is already lenient. You even asked the Chen Clan to hand her over to you? Does the Chen Clan even have the authority to do that?"

"Brother Fang, please, calm yourself," Father Chen implored.

"Brother Chen," the middle-aged man addressed Father Chen. The fact that he still called him 'brother' eased Father Chen's apprehension.

"Chen Xue and Huo Yan behaved unreasonably. You shouldn't shield them any longer. Moreover, today is the wedding day of Little Yi and Lin Shuai; the atmosphere should be joyful. Allowing these two juniors to act so recklessly and create a scene is inappropriate," the middle-aged man admonished Father Chen.

"Brother Chen is absolutely right," Father Chen quickly agreed. Suddenly, Father Chen recalled the middle-aged man's earlier attitude when speaking to Lin Shuai, addressing him as "noble nephew Lin Shuai." Furthermore, he had subtly inquired about Lin Shuai's junior apprentice brother. Could it be...?

Father Chen was an astute man. The thought crossed his mind: Could this young man come from an aristocratic clan? However, if that were the case, why would he join the relatively weak sect that Lin Shuai belonged to?

"The Huo and Wan Clans have been very disappointing today. If our paths cross in the future, we shall have no dealings with each other," the green-robed middle-aged man declared coldly.

Qin Wentian observed the scene quietly, never anticipating such a turn of events. As the middle-aged man approached him, the crowd looked on with puzzlement.

"Lin Shuai and Little Yi, come with me," Father Chen instructed as they followed the middle-aged man. Qin Wentian raised his gaze and observed the approaching man. They were not acquainted.

The middle-aged man raised his wine cup and stopped in front of Qin Wentian. "Initially, I, Fang, was perplexed, wondering who could radiate such extraordinary grace. It was only later that I recalled seeing a portrait of Young Lord Qin. Therefore, I am here now and wish to offer Young Lord Qin a cup of wine as an apology. I genuinely hope that Young Lord Qin can forgive this old man for my delayed recognition."

As he spoke, to the astonishment of the onlookers, he bowed deeply to the young man before him. His demeanor exuded profound respect.

Even Father Chen, who had already suspected that Qin Wentian might hail from an aristocratic clan, was so shocked that he halted in his tracks. The middle-aged man, Fang Huai, hailed from an immortal-king ranked power. Even if the young man before him also belonged to an immortal-king power, he should treat him with equal respect based on their status. However, Qin Wentian's apparent origins were far from ordinary aristocracy.

It occurred to Father Chen that Qin Wentian might belong to a more powerful clan than the Fang Clan. Moreover, the power Qin Wentian hailed from was likely many times mightier than the Fang Clan. This realization sent shivers down Father Chen's spine. This was an opportunity! Regrettably, he had inadvertently offended this powerful figure earlier.

Huo Yan, that rascal. And why didn't Lin Shuai say anything until now?

Huo Yan and the others were equally flabbergasted by the unfolding spectacle. They gazed at the middle-aged man, who was offering a toast, and anticipated that Qin Wentian would reciprocate the gesture. However, to their amazement, Qin Wentian remained motionless.

He sat there calmly, observing the middle-aged man. It was apparent that this man was astute. How could he have been unaware of Qin Wentian's identity? He must have known all along but chose not to divulge anything to Father Chen, waiting instead for a suitable opportunity to showcase himself.

This middle-aged man was no saint, and Qin Wentian had no qualms about his scheming nature. Timing was everything, and his appearance at this precise moment was nothing short of perfect.

Thus, the bizarre scene unfolded. The middle-aged man, a person of immense stature and a descendant of an immortal-king ranked power, stood there, stooped and patient, while the young man calmly observed him.

Witnessing this, Father Chen's heart raced even faster. He dared not entertain further speculations. Who on earth was this young man?

"Lin Shuai, who is your junior apprentice brother?" Father Chen discreetly communicated with Lin Shuai.

Lin Shuai glanced at him, silently lamenting the pragmatism that seemed to dominate people's minds. He had no desire to exploit his junior brother's status, but if he didn't do so, everyone would scoff at his marriage and even insult his sect. Since his junior brother had chosen not to reveal his identity, Lin Shuai decided to keep Father Chen in suspense for a little longer, allowing him to stew in trepidation.

At that very moment, an overwhelmingly powerful aura suddenly swept through the surroundings. Subsequently, a majestic figure descended from the heavens.

"I pay my respects to the ancestor," the green-robed middle-aged man immediately knelt down and spoke respectfully, sending shockwaves through the hearts of many.

It was the ancestral figure of the Fang Clan!

An immortal king expert!

This Fang Clan ancestor appeared incredibly youthful. His imposing figure landed beside the middle-aged man in green attire. He then turned toward Qin Wentian, clasped his hands together, and bowed respectfully. "I am Fang Mu of the Fang Clan. Who would have imagined that I would encounter Young Lord Qin in such a place? I am deeply honored."

As his words reverberated, it was as though thunder had struck under clear skies. The eyes of everyone at the banquet widened in astonishment, and they rose to their feet!
