Introductions

Dan leaned back on the wall of the hole they were hiding in, his mind jumbled up by the recent events he had gone through.

His second life in this magical world was not what he expected it to be. He was supposed to be earning money to buy a mana core and then use it to become a metahuman.

But because of Mark, he was now stranded in the middle of the dangerous wild with some strangers.

He didn't know the concrete reason for this kidnapping. According to the guy who was now dead and lying outside the hole, they were taken to be turned into soldiers. But what did that mean, Dan couldn't figure it out. What kind of soldiers, for what reason and what was the reason for them to be chosen, it all remained a mystery after Aiden's death.

But it didn't matter that much now that they were at least a couple of hundred kilometres away from civilization.

A couple of hours or even more had already passed since the muscular boy had killed that military guy named Aiden.

His death had hit Dan a bit hard but it didn't seem to affect others much judging from their lack of reaction. As a matter of fact, even the fact that they were stranded in the middle of nowhere with mega beasts lurking at every corner of this humongous forest didn't seem to affect them much.

They looked eighteen and nineteen but there was not a single bit of panic or worry in their eyes.

Either they were trained or knew how to hide their emotions really well. And here he was, a man in his thirties nearly about to have a mental breakdown after seeing a man die for the first time. It was pathetic but that was just who he was.

In the last hour, they had introduced themselves, including the mentally broken Dan. He had given out his real name which he considered Dan and not Ian. Ian was dead.

The bald and muscular boy was named Kane, an 18 year old warrior type metahuman.

The girl with short black hair was named Ashley and she too introduced herself as a psychic type metahuman.

The skinny boy revealed his name to be Ace but other than that, he said nothing more. He was mysterious but his skinny frame didn't help him in turning that mysterious persona of his into a dangerous one. He just looked like a starving kid. But Dan knew better than to judge someone from their outward appearance.

Ace had an intelligent glint in his eyes as he surveyed his surroundings and the fact that he had been kidnapped by Aiden aided in making Dan realise Ace's uniqueness.

Dan was surprised at the fact that he was in the presence of not one but two metahumans and also quite surprised that they had frankly revealed their nature.

But he didn't have the energy to think on that subject more. Lang had used up a lot of energy to heal him. He was starving and the growls of his empty stomach worked to remind him that he was on the verge of looking like Ace.
