Lord Derek
Derek sighed in sadness at the sight of the Prince kneeling in pain and spasming after the whipping courtesy of the Chief Inquisitor whose sudden appearance at the Tower was nothing but fear inducing. Not only had she arrived and immediately whipped the Prince in the presence of everyone and once more reiterating that he had no right to fight back against the bullies, she had also showed that she had no qualms about being cruel when she needed to be.
As the Princess helped her brother stand , he and the rest of the student population began to disperse. He could not bare to look at the guy who had acted instantly upon discovering that his sister had just killed someone that could put not just him and his sister but three other strangers in serious problem. The Prince who had been so strong and smart the previous night now looked like broken doll, a jarring experience not just for him but for his sister, Elswyth as well as her lover Curtis.
"Have you seen Edward any where?" Mustapha, one of Edward's fanatical friends who did nothing but raise the poor guy's ego when all it needed was a little reality check.
Edward was his best friend, a surprise to many seeing as he was the resident's righteous Saint, however it didn't mean that he was blind to the fact that his friend was a dick to many people. One of the reasons they had been friends to begin with was because they were family friends first and foremost, and then he had decided to take it upon himself to change the guy and make his a better person, or at least less of a dick. His plan had failed if last night was any indication, but that did not mean he did not feel great sadness for the lost soul of Edward.
"Not since last night." He said as he walked towards his class with the five fanatic friends of Edward. He hated being with this group of people but had only endured their presence because of Edward; he had had to be close to the guy, he had had to remain close in order to change him or nudge him in the right direction, now that he was dead he would rather be anywhere but there but there was the slight problem of everything being suspicious if he suddenly stopped hanging out with them. After all to them and everyone in the Tower, Edward was still alive.
"You mean you couldn't find him when you went looking for him?" Emefiele asked as they entered the class.
"No, I couldn't find him, I searched for him for hours before I caught my sister and Curtis in an intimate position, trust me I had nightmares because of that sight." He finished as he changed the direction of the conversation to his sister and her lover whom everyone in the group hated, mainly because each and everyone of them wanted to bang him sister.
"You think they will remain together after graduation by the week's end?" Collins asked him as they sat down together while looking at the couple who were sitting next to each other, whispering something that Derek would give anything to be in the midst of.
They had killed someone last night and despite the fact that they had erased the evidence of their actions and canceled anything linking them to the crime, he was still nervous contrary to how smoothly he was talking to the group. He was not just nervous, he was shit scared, he needed someone to talk to about this, but who would he speak to? Elswyth and Curtis had each other to talk to, the Prince and Princess also had each other to talk to, but he had no one but himself.
They needed to be each other's support group in order to survive this week, especially with the Kingdom's best Inquisitor in thier midst, but it seemed highly unlikely for that to happen, there was instead a higher chance of him not being able to control himself that he would out everyone by mistake.
Before he could further contemplate his present fate, the twins returned , with the Prince in fresh clothes but visibly in pain. Turning away from them, he looked at his own twin sister who was still talking with Curtis and then back at the Royal Twins who slowly but surely got to their seats and sat together, with the Prince resting his head on the Princess' shoulders, before he looked at his group that were now speaking animatedly with each other as they always did in each other's presence. Everyone had someone but he had no one, especially when he needed someone the most, with a frustrated sigh, he took out his books for revision before the last lecture they were going to have for the end of the five year stay at the Tower.
Lady Elswyth
Last night had been one of the worst nights of her life, a boy of high station had been murdered and she had been a party to not just the killing but the covering up of the crime. She had had a problem sleeping, barely sleeping for two hours at every interval before waking up with a gasp. Her roommate had of course been worried for her, seeing as she had hardly ever had nightmares that woke her up like that, all panting and sweating and visibly afraid with shivers as if having a fever. By dawn however, the night terror had come to an end and she was back to her tip top nice and innocent state. She had the freedom to be broken in the privacy of her room shared with a roommate with whom she had shared many naughty secrets with, but in the presence of the general public, she had an image to preserve.
She had taken a sniff of a drug that woke even the dead, expensive to get of course but with she having a hand in its production and secret sales in school she had gotten it for next to nothing, before she left her room to face the next day head on with her mind finally at ease and with she back to her normal happy self in order to hide the fact that she had just committed a grave crime with the others the night before.
It was only a sign that life was not the least bit interested in whatever nonsense plan she had made for herself that the Chief Inquisitor, the best in the Kingdom of Syera had simply waltzed into the Tower, had the Prince, their secret keeping mastermind, whipped bloody in the presence of everyone at school. Sure even the Prince had known this was coming, but so soon after beating Edward in public and then killing him in secret? It was almost as if the Lady Amanda had already been on the road ahead before the unfortunate night the five of them had had. Since Saints could not tell the future, there was no way she nor the king would have known that the Prince was going to humiliate Edward, which meant only one thing; she had been coming for something else only to receive word that the Prince had humiliated the son of the Prime Minister and had been ordered by the King to punish the Prince as harshly as she possibly could. What then had she been coming to the Tower for?
"You think we will be alright?" Curtis whispered as they walked into the classroom after the eventful morning assembly they all had just had.
"I hope so love, I just wish she had come two days later, by then the evidence on the knife if found would have long been gone and the body of Edward would have most certainly been destroyed." She replied as she took her seat beside Curtis.
"I think the Prince and Princess have a plan for this." He said as he brought out his books.
"Highly doubtful Curtis, even they would not have expected her to arrive today, they worst they had expected was tomorrow, and that would be if the Lady Amanda ran her horse to the ground." She replied.
"Could you imagine the Chief Inquisitor running her horse so hard that she had to walk all the way to the Tower but then gets robbed on the way and arrives looking like a beggar?" He asked with a chuckle to make light the tense mood they were in.
She laughed quietly at what he said before she turned to look at her brother who had just buried himself into the book before him. "Do you think he will be alright?" She asked as she looked at her twin.
"Probably not, none of us are going to be alright in a pretty long time." Curtis said.
"More reason for us to be closer than ever, none of us have ever done this, we need to be closer and united against anyone that threatens to expose us." She said as she looked at him and then the friends around him that basically talked over him, ignoring his very existence. Then she turned to the Royals in the room and saw the Prince fast asleep on the Princess' shoulder, while the Princess held his hands and slowly thumbed his wrists. All three of them had no real friends to talk to about anything, least of all their crime.
"Being friends with not just your brother but the Prince and Princess as well, let's just say I never saw that coming." Curtis said as he turned around to look at the other three.
"If we are going to keep our secret a secret, we will need each other to talk to about our fears and struggle." She said as she turned back to face her table.
"Like a sort of therapy group?"
"Exactly." She said with a nod. She knew she needed therapy and this was the perfect way to get it without involving any outsider. "Time to make some friends."
