I didn't spare her

The morning sun crept through the curtains, gently coaxing me out of my slumber. As my groggy mind began to clear, the events of the previous night came flooding back, and a wave of embarrassment washed over me.

I gasped horrifically. What I've I done?

I was practically slapping the front of my head for getting so drunk, till I kissed-

Crap.

I couldn't face Xender after my tipsy antics, so I reached for the funny turkey glasses that Agnes had convinced me to buy yesterday and slipped them on, hoping they would shield me from him for the better part of today.

With the glasses perched on my nose, I quietly stepped out of my room, my heart racing at the thought of encountering Xender. Somewhere behind my head I wondered where Agnes was. I walked a little and soon, I found him in the sitting room, engrossed in a phone call.

I let out a relieved sigh, thinking I might be able to slip away unnoticed. But just as I was about to make my escape, he ended the call and turned his attention to me.

"No so fast," he muttered, his lips curling into a little smirk. Very tiny, just around the sides of his lips that if you didn't look closely enough, you would think it was actually just his regular, dead-cold face.

I swallowed hard, feeling like a deer caught in headlights. I took a deep breath and walked over to the table where he had placed a glass of honey water for me. I kept my gaze fixed on the glass, casting quick glances at Xender from behind my turkey glasses.

I took a sip of the honey water, trying to act casual despite the internal unrest. Xender didn't stop staring at me, and I could feel his gaze practically penetrating into my skin.

Finally, unable to bear the tension any longer, I mustered the courage to speak.

"About last night," I began, my voice slightly muffled by the glasses. "I just want to say… I don't remember anything."

Xender raised an eyebrow, his smile becoming hightened. "Oh really? Because from what I recall, you were quite the entertainer."

I cringed behind the glasses, feeling my cheeks heat up. "Entertainer? What are you talking about, Xender?."

He chuckled, leaning back against the couch. "Oh, come on. Don't be too hard on yourself. You were just having fun."

I let out a nervous laugh, adjusting the turkey glasses on my face. He was testing me so I choose to stand on my ground "Yeah, well, whatever you say but I, can't recall a thing."

He hummed, nodding a bit. "Then it's my pleasure to remind you"

Crap.

I avoided his gaze.

"Honestly, it was refreshing to see you let loose like that. You're usually so…composed."

He uttered after a while and I peered at him from behind the glasses, my embarrassment slowly giving way to a sense of comfort. "I suppose being composed is overrated sometimes."

He grinned, his eyes twinkling mischievously. "Definitely. So, do you remember the part where you declared that you could eat an entire pizza in one bite?"

Uh?

My eyes widened in horror, and I shook my head vehemently. "No, no, no. Please tell me I didn't say that."

Xender burst into laughter, his gaze warm as he looked at me. "You did. And you even demonstrated with a rather dramatic hand gesture."

I let out a mortified groan, burying my face in my hands. "Oh, dear. This is beyond embarrassing."

Xender's laughter was contagious, and I found myself chuckling despite my embarrassment.

"It's all in good fun, Amelia. And I have to admit, you've given me quite a story to remember."

Just as I was beginning to relax, Xender's expression turned unexpectedly serious. "Oh, by the way, do you remember this?"

He stepped closer, his fingers gently lifting my chin to meet his gaze. Before I could register what was happening, his lips met mine in a soft, lingering kiss. My heart skipped a beat, and for a moment, the world seemed to fade away.

I didn't kiss him back. I was merely standing, startled in widened eyes. When he pulled away, a playful glint returned to his eyes. "I thought I'd remind you of at least one thing from last night."

My cheeks flushed, and I stammered for words, completely caught off guard. "I… uh… didn't expect that."

Xender's smile was tender as he reached out to tuck a strand of hair behind my ear. "Then should I make you expect it."

Uh? What the- he wanted to…

I moved away from him, trying to organize myself even when I was a complete mess already. "I.. Uh.. I think you've made your point"

I stammered, refusing to look at his eyes and great goodness agnes appeared from behind. "Good day, sunshine"

She muttered into the silence between us and my eyes instantly travelled to her, she was smirking and looking between xander and I.

"W-Where did you go?"

"I shared room with granny and by the way…"

She brought out her car keys, and casting Xander a suspicious glare. "I'm going home. I have some things to handle"

Her lips paused, crossing her arms a little. "Now, who is this?"

I met her gaze, a nervous grin coming over my lips, knowing that she would break into two when she heard the news, but I didn't spare her.

"Our boss, Agnes"

Agnes's widened eyes were a clear indication of her surprise and perhaps a hint of fear. Her usually confident seemed to falter, and I couldn't blame her. After all, she had been privy to some of the more, shall we say, entertaining moments of the previous night. She managed a nervous smile, offering a tentative greeting to Xender. "Hello," she greeted, her voice sounding just a tad higher than usual. She gave an hasty excuse. "I, uh, just remembered I have something to take care of. Nice to meet you, Boss.", before dashing toward the door as if her life depended on it.

Xender's expression remained unchanged as he watched her exit, his gaze steady and unreadable. Suddenly, he was standing in front of me, his arms wrapping around my waist, pulling me close. His nearness sent my heart racing, and I struggled to focus as he gazed down at me with intense eyes. "Amelia," he murmured, his voice a soft caress, "I want you to be with me."

I bit my lip, my mind racing with conflicting emotions. After everything that had happened, keeping me captive, all the ups and downs just to get away from him, could I really consider giving him a chance?

I hesitated for a moment, allowing his words to sink in before finally responding, "I…I can't, Xender."

He let out a heavy sigh, his grip on me tightening almost imperceptibly. "Amelia, please," he pleaded, his voice laced with a mixture of desperation and sincerity.

"Can't you see that I want you"

His voice was deep, husky, possesive and I managed to look up at him. I met his gaze, seeing the very visible desire inside them and my resistance was wavering under the weight of his gaze. "Xender, I need.. t..time to think. I can't just accept… you.. without being sure of this."

His eyes held mine for a moment longer, his expression a mix of hope and frustration. Then, with a resigned nod, he seemed to come to a decision. "Alright," he said softly, "I understand."

And just when I thought the conversation was over, he dropped a bombshell that caught me completely off guard. "Amelia, I'll be traveling in the next seven days."

My eyes widened in surprise, my heart sinking at the thought of him leaving. I couldn't contain it. "Wait, what?" I gasped, my voice betraying the shock that coursed through me.

Xender turned to leave, his back to me, but I couldn't let him go like this. "Wait!" I called out, my voice urgent. When he turned to face me, I blinked rapidly, my mind racing to come up with a response. "I'll be with you," I blurted out, the words escaping my lips before I could fully process them.

He stood quiet and expressionless for a while and just when I was starting to feel regret and uncertain. He grinned, a genuine smile that transformed his face into something utterly captivating. "I knew you couldn't resist me for long," he teased, his eyes dancing with amusement.

I crossed my arms, feigning annoyance even though relief flooded through me. "Don't get too cocky," I retorted, my cheeks tinged with pink.

He chuckled, stepping closer until he was inches away from me. His arms enveloped me in a warm embrace, his lips brushing against my ear as he whispered, "I was just kidding about leaving the country. But I do have a business trip coming up soon."

Crap.

I had fallen for his trap so easily

I rolled my eyes, trying to hide the fact that he had successfully unnerved me. "Of course, you were."

He laughed, a deep, melodic sound that reverberated through me. "You're something else, Amelia."

I couldn't help but smile, feeling a sense of contentment settling over me. "You have no idea."

"Then why did you say no just now"

He requested through the silence between us and I hesistated for a while.

"I know you billionaires.."

"You always have a long list of to-do ladies"

He gritted. "Stop it, Amelia"

"I've told you that it's only you I love"

I gasped, noticing that that was the first time he was using the word 'love' I couldn't control my hearts pace.

Moments later, he was ushering me toward his car, his fingers intertwining with mine. "Let me get me out of here, wifey" he teased, a playful glint in his eyes.

I laughed, a blush creeping over my cheeks. "Don't get ahead of yourself."

We bid farewell to my grandmother, her smile warm and knowing as she watched us. Xender thanked her, his gratitude genuine, before leading me toward the door.
