The two drunken men had a strong smell of alcohol on them. Seeing Suzanne about to run, they knew the dark hallway wouldn't allow her to get far. They approached her, laughing and spouting filthy language.
Suzanne was familiar with the dark, run-down hallway, so she quickly retraced her steps to the entrance, then suddenly turned around and sprinted out.
"Beauty, why are you running?"
"Stay and have some fun with us..."
"Come back and chat, beautiful. Burp~ You run quite fast. Let's go, let's go, hurry up and chase!"
Suzanne thought she'd be safe once she got away from the two drunken men, but she didn't expect them to follow. They staggered after her, but their big strides made it easy to catch up with her.
Subconsciously, she checked her pocket for her phone, but it wasn't there. She couldn't even call the police.
It was late, and the elderly residents of the neighborhood had long since gone to bed. There was no one downstairs; the surroundings were empty, quiet, and dark.
