The Little Boy tensed nervously and glanced back, only to see that they were surrounded by open space and still couldn't find the exit. They definitely wouldn't be able to outrun an adult, so their only option was to find a place to hide for now.
"Quick, get on, I'll carry you." The Little Boy squatted down in front of Molly, offering his back to her.
Molly looked at his thin yet straight back and, with her soft little body, quickly clambered up from the ground and lay across his back.
The Little Boy reached out to support her little buttocks, shouldering her and hiding in a Rundown House before both squeezed into an abandoned cardboard box.
Outside the door, footsteps were getting closer...
"There are footprints here, they couldn't have gone far, they're nearby, search thoroughly and if you let them get away, you know the consequences!"
A low and fierce voice sounded from the direction of the doorway.
"Yes," several people responded at the same time.
