Unfinished Business

The Goddess's heart whined like a puppy who was denied food scraps at the dinner table. 

She took a deep breath before responding. Her voice sounded shaky. "I'm… I'm perfectly fine, Sky. Thank you for your help though."

The lie rippled through her core, leaving behind an ache of helplessness. Obviously, she wanted him. She couldn't even hide it.

His disappointment was immediately evident on his face, as he too, looked like a poor mongrel denied his fair share of treats. 

"Are you sure I can't do anything to change your mind…?" Sky batted his pretty eyelashes to her, lightly brushing his finger tips against her shoulders. 

Her skin was addicted to his touch. It felt hot and she wanted more. But instead of giving into her desires, she reluctantly looked away from him, which was a difficult task itself.
