Chapter 17

It was a Sunday afternoon, and Sarah was just returning from her Sunday mass.

Once she opened the door, she was welcomed by the banging of the loud music being played by her sister.

When she came to the sitting room, she saw her sister on the couch holding a cup of wine and nodding happily to the rhythm of the music coming from the subwoofer.

"Hey sis, what's the occasion?" Sarah asked Lucy, but she touched her ears, signaling that she wasn't hearing what she was saying.

Immediately, Sarah walked angrily to the subwoofer and reduced the volume, and Lucy frowned at her.

"So I said, what's the occasion?" Sarah asked again.

"What is the meaning of that question, so I can't enjoy music anymore at home?" Lucy asked Sarah while feigning to be angry.

"Sis I know you very well; you don't play music unless there is an occasion, and secondly, you are drinking. So there is an occasion, or did you get  promoted?"Sarah inquired with an inquisitive tone.

"OK, you got me," Lucy admitted. "The truth is that I didn't get promoted, but what is mine is slowly getting back to me." Lucy informed her while sipping the wine in the cup.

"Sis I didn't understand anything in all you said; what is yours that is slowly getting back to you?" Sarah inquired, and Lucy heaved a sigh.

"Catherine and Jerry have broken up," Lucy informed her blankly. "So all I have to do now is wait patiently for Jerry to recover, and afterwards I will take back what's mine." Lucy informed her while sipping her wine.

"What? How did that happen? I hope you didn't have anything to do with it. Sarah asked Lucy, and she laughed maniacally, and Sarah furrowed her brows at her.

"You see my sister when you want to take someone down and the person starts proving stubborn. All you have to do is work together with the person's enemies, and boom, you get what you want. Lucy explained to her sister with a smirk on her face, but Sarah, who didn't understand anything she said, furrowed her brows at her.

"Sis, I don't know what you did or what you are up to, but as I told you before, I have witnessed this kind of thing before and I know how it ends—it ends badly," Sarah informed Lucy, who frowned angrily, but as she was to reply, her phone started ringing.

Without hesitating, she took the phone and checked the caller ID, and immediately she picked up.

"Hello, how are you?" She asked from the other side of the phone.

"I'm fine," the person replied from the other end. "Hope you are still coming?" The person inquired.

"Yes, of course, I'm already preparing to start coming," she lied.

"OK, then see you," the person informed her before hanging up.

"Who was that?" Sarah asked after Lucy dropped her phone, and immediately Lucy eyed her angrily.

"Sarah, what on earth is your problem? Have you become mom or dad to always be running around my tail?" Lucy inquired angrily.

"Ooh, sorry for asking," Sarah apologized before heading upstairs.

Lucy looked at her for a few seconds and hissed at her before sipping the remaining wine in her glass cup.

It was already four p.m., and the sun had slowly faded down, making way for a cool atmosphere mixed with a little sunshine.

Meanwhile, in the Prestige restaurant, Daniel and his mother were seated in the VIP area, and in front of them was a table filled with some alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages accompanied by some of the best dishes in the restaurant.

As they were busy discussing the glazier, the door of the restaurant busted open, and immediately Lucy came in.

She was putting on a yellow short gown that tightened her body, showing off her curves and cleavages.

She was holding a yellow handbag that matched the hill shoe she was putting on.

Once she came in, Daniel and Cynthia waved at her from the VIP area, and immediately she started walking towards them, ignoring the lustful looks of some people who couldn't get their eyes off her since she entered the restaurant.

Once she approached the area where Daniel and her mother were sitting, she greeted them and sat on the empty seat beside Cynthia.

"Don't you think that the gown you are putting on is too short?" Cynthia asked Lucy.

"No, I don't think so; after all, it's what's in the mode," Lucy said to Cynthia.

With that statement, Cynthia shook her head in disbelief and continued munching on the slice of pizza she was holding.

Without hesitating, Lucy took one of the alcoholic beverages, opened it, poured it into the glass cup, and started sipping it. Cynthia immediately widened her eyes in surprise.

"Do you drink alcohol too?" Cynthia asked her with a surprised tone.

"Yes, of course. Is there anything wrong with that?" Lucy asked Cynthia, not minding her surprised stare, and immediately Daniel busted into a round of laughter.

"Mrs. Cynthia, we're no longer in the early nineties; we are in the twenty-first century, so allow us to chill," Lucy said to Cynthia while taking a slice of pizza.

"I totally agree with you, Lucy," Daniel said to Lucy, and immediately Cynthia shook her head in disbelief.

"When I was your age, I didn't even know the meaning of alcohol, and up to today I have never tasted one because I'm a Christian," Cynthia said to Lucy, and immediately Daniel and Lucy busted into another round of laughter.

"I prefer to reserve my comment," Lucy said to Cynthia while laughing, and immediately she shook her head in disbelief and started sipping her fruit juice.

"Lucy, I must admit you really did a great job in the hospital." Daniel commended Lucy, and she smiled while sipping her drink.

"You should have seen her face when she saw me kissing Jerry," Lucy said to them, and they all busted into a round of laughter.

"Cheers to our victory," Daniel said while raising his drink up.

"Cheers," Cynthia and Lucy said while reciprocating the act.

"All I have to do now is wait for Jerry to recover a little from the breakup, and I will slowly take back what's rightfully mine," Lucy said while smiling, and immediately Daniel and Cynthia looked at each other cunningly and smiled.

"Yes, you are right, Lucy. Jerry is all yours," Cynthia said cunningly to Lucy, and she smiled while munching her pizza.

As they were still discussing, the glazier door of the restaurant busted open again, and immediately Chris walked in.

Once he came in, some of the waitresses approached him and greeted him politely, while some of the clients waved at him.

When he looked at the VIP area and saw Daniel, he waved at him and started heading towards his office.

After discussing for a little while, Daniel excused himself and started heading towards Chris' office.
