The Half-beast soldiers swarming out from the castle ultimately shattered Fumel's illusions; he had underestimated the ferocity of the Half-Beast warriors.
Although Dragumo also experienced some brief hesitation, the innate explosive valor of the Half-Beasts still allowed Dragumo to overcome his momentary concerns. Under such circumstances, if he were still hesitant to pursue them outside the castle, and thus lose a chance to turn the tide, Dragumo couldn't forgive himself.
The charge of the Half-Beasts heavily struck the rear of the Cretans, and although they also mustered the courage to desperately counterattack, the situation had already deeply affected the Cretans' spirits. Their main objective was now retreat. Soldiers without the will to fight are no longer soldiers; they are just a group of pitiful beings struggling to survive.
