*Lynn*
I slammed my bedroom door closed, letting the sound echo down the hallway beyond. I had forgotten the hour, and my entrance startled Clara and Aldith, who sat up each with a slight yelp.
“Lynn!” Aldith exclaimed. “What the hell are you doing?”
“Sorry,” I mumbled, shuffling over to my bed.
“Do you have any idea what time it is?” Aldith questioned, her eyes glowing in the dark.
“I know. I said I’m sorry.” I shrugged off my shoes and replaced my dress with a nightgown that hung low to my ankles.
“What? Your boyfriend kick you out or something?” Aldith asked, climbing from her bed as I climbed into mine.
“He’s not my boyfriend,” I told her, pulling the blankets up to my chin. I shivered despite their warmth, a sudden numbness filling me.
“Then why are you acting all nervous?”
“It’s nothing.”
“It’s definitely something,” Clara commented as she joined Aldith’s side.
“Go back to bed,” I stated to them. “It’ll be a long day tomorrow.”
