Chapter 35 : Kiss Me in the Rain

Haven’s POV

It feels like a dream. Nothing really feels real. The event is, once again, a spectacular one, but I hardly notice. I don’t pay attention to the chandeliers or the gorgeous classical music flowing from the quartet, carrying a melancholic tune.

I hardly notice all of the things going on around me, from one perfectly placed table to the next. I barely pay attention to the compliments on the dress I am wearing, which is a perfect imitation of Maria’s blue dress from The Sound of Music, with the flowing baby blue sleeves and floral pattern.

What I do choose to focus on is the warmth of Cruz’s hand while our fingers lace together. I pay attention to the smell of his cologne as I brush against him. I pay attention to the way he guides me through the crowd from one exhibit to the next.
