Chapter Two: It’s Eyes

At the Milville hospital, a 1930 Cadillac 16 pulled up right at it's front. Regular people, along with reporters, with their small sized black and white cameras, crowded the entire place, making the environment roudy and noisy.

"It's Jack! " a lady said pointing out her gloved finger.  She wore white pearls and a brown fur jacket, and had black bob-fringed hairstyle. She was pointing at Alpha Loggman's son, who had just stepped out from the car. "It's Jack Loggman!"

Jack noticed the crowd face his way, and the flashes of camera lights followed. They came running towards him, stretching the microphones in their hands at him, asking him questions which he didn't bother to reply.

"Are you in any way involved in this case?"

"Did you get angry after this woman had called off the wedding and decided to strike back?"

"Why was the wedding called off?"...

Men clad in black hats and coats escorted Jack into the place making sure the crowd didn't make contact with him.

Jack was known in the city because his father, Mr Loggman, had the top richest company operating in London, and was also contesting as a candidate for the upcoming election as mayor. They were the Billionaires of London city. They just wanted to obtain more and more power in the city and the land.

Jack was indeed known by people, especially the female specie, but was also known for his Jack the lad attitude. Gossips would busy  themselves spreading more and more rumours that he had been with all the girls in London. Although, It was not completely a lie, but the young gent wouldn't say all of 'em.

The young man didn't care about anything  like his or his father's reputation. Infact, the man despised his father for often referring to him and his mother as the disgraceful wolves in the pack. Literally.

Back then, when his mother was still a maiden, she use to work as a courtesan before the young rich Loggman picked her up. He polished her and wanted her to forget all about her past. Well, this raised jealousy and envy inside of others and also a kind of war between his family and them who wanted to be together.

Though no one actually knew if she did. Some said it was her only way to get out of dire poverty. The shame young Loggman had brought to his family back then was severe.

It had now changed because he had build up a new reputation and name for himself. No one had the guts to talk of it.

Coming into the Loggman's family wasn't as simple as just wearing a ring on your finger, and exchanging vows at the city hall. There was what they called the Reveal and Ritual. Some in the family referred to it as the curse of the moon goddess. Only after this will the joining be sacred and permanent.

It wasn't an ordinary joining between a man and a woman. It was a supernatural joining between two souls into one family, or shall I say one pack? To share this loyal bond.

The woman, who Jack was convinced was his right mate, was the lady who stayed lying unconscious on the hospital bed, battling for her life.

In the unit, he looked at the brown-eyed female with long hair, that now had an oxygen pipe connected to her nostrils. Beside her was a blood bag hung on a pole supplying her with blood through a transparent drip line,  and on her neck, was a white bandage,  covering what seemed like a really deep wound.

"I'm sorry" He spoke beneath his breath "I don't deserve you Lyya"

He stretched out his hand reaching for her now pale looking forehead.

He said as he rubbed it softly adoring the lady Lyya even in her ill state, "I'll make sure who or what ever did this to you pay. I will..."

Interrupting his speech, the unit's door was suddenly opened.

"Who dares...?!"

Seeing it was Charles, his father's Beta, who was preferably a better father figure than the shit he got, he quickly held in his bellow.

"Shit" Was what Jack secretly called his father at his back. The Alpha that now sat on the throne, Alpha Loggman.

"What happened?"

Jack asked, already knowing that was what he was about to say.

"A Coachman traced her back to the woods, after suspecting something off, and found her body lying down almost dead.  He didn't quite see what attacked her, but her body was scratched badly. And I'm certain you know what could make such an attack"

Jack stayed next to Lyya, holding her hand as he listened. He had now already gotten the main information he needed from him and stopped listening, even if Beta Charles hadn't finished talking.

As he held her palm in his hands, the voice of Beta Charles slowly turned into a background noise. Jack's mind now flew to the first and the last time he had held her hand like this.

He remembered the last time was the time he had gone down on his knees to propose. Something he had never thought he would've been able to do.

He recalled her being over joyed, and remembered her euphonious voice say as she accepted the diamond ring,

"Oh Jack, you have made me the happiest lady on earth"

Was it all over now?

Was that all a lie?

Did she mean what she said?

He knew if she was conscious, she wouldn't have let him even come close to her like this, talk more of holding her hand.

In Jack's mind, a lovely day replayed itself to him like a film show. It was as if the day was repeating itself again, like he had travelled back in time.

"Yes Jack, yes!" Lady Lyya said excitedly with the widest grin ever. Her voice was likened to that of an angel.

It was going to be the biggest wedding of all time in the city. The Jack who everyone knew loved women was now finally getting married to one. Just the one who he actually loved.

He was now spinning her around with hands on her fine waist, and her body lifted off the ground. Her white off-shoulder gown twirled in the air as she spinned .

"Put me down" She playfully said as she laughed.

He placed her gently on the ground and their eyes fixated on each other's. There was this romantic atmosphere, and the ambience of the place hightened the feeling both of them felt at that point.

Drawing closer to each other to the point they could feel each other's warm breath, Jack tucked in her bright coloured hair at the back of her ear. Aware of what was about to happen between them, they went closer tilting their head.

Just before they were about to share a passionate kiss, Jack snapped out of his reverie.

"Where's the Coachman? I want to meet him"

He spoke sounding a bit angry and also sounding serious. He didn't have his hand in her palm again. His demeanour had suddenly changed. Perhaps because of the memory lane he had passed. He tried not to show that he had just felt his heart shatter into pieces again.

Drinking out and playing with the other ladies couldn't help mend his heart. Only her could. The one woman he had finally chosen to be with,  had decided to not be with him.

Maybe it was karma coming back at him for the countless females he had done a number on. If it wasn't her, then there was no loving for him.

"He will be interrogated again and the case will be further investigated by the detectives" Charles informed. "Let them do their job and you go answer duty calls"

"Duty calls?" He asked. "Like the Shit's ever involved me in the family business. The real one"

Charles reminded the impudent young man, "Jack, you do know he's my Alpha, right?"

Jack rolled his eyes in disrespect. Charles couldn't do anything about his uncultured behaviour. He was the bosses son after all,  and definitely was not a kid.

"Your father wants to have a word with you at the Gaggnok's mansion. He says it's urgent"

Jack gave a hiss. Even if he was a carefree young man, he wasn't free entirely. His father had eyes everywhere. Even the humble but strict gentleman that stood in the same room with him, was also loyal to the Alpha.

He had no choice. Before heading out of the unit's door, Jack stood at the door's frame and  said mentally,

'I'll fix this. I'll fix us"

He then left to the Gaggnok's mansion where his father, the Alpha was. The Alpha Loggman's office chamber. In front of the enomous door, was the painting of a grey viscous werewolf's head. Jack Loggman stood in front of it, trying to gather up enough courage to enter.

He hated the Alpha, yes. But what he didn't tell people was that he feared it.

The Grey wolf's eyes on the door stared deeply at him, making it look real.
