Chapter 13: Remember Lyya

Whimpering, Brown still tried to act tough, even when he knew he was dying in Jack's claws.

His neck was now being throttled, and him too had transformed into his wolf. Jack was part human now as he throttled his neck, carrying Brown's skinny wolf off the ground.

Jack's eyes had now turned completely red as he pressed whimpering Brown's wolf, killing him slowly.

His claws slowly pierced through Brown's neck, and his whimpering went up higher.

Blood now started trickling out of Brown's injured neck, as he shifted into his human form, then his wolf, his human again.

"I-I..I'm I'm sor-ry man" Brown begged as he felt himself dying in Jack's claws.

Unlike his wolf, Jack's wolf was healthier looking and much more muscular. More muscular than his. Jack's wolf had a slight resemblance to the viscous grey werewolf, but unlike it, there was a difference in colour.

Jack wasn't Jack anymore. Brown could see that in his eyes and the bulging of his veins.

Brown's veins were popping out of his wolf's neck as he had transformed back. He knew his human form would die quicker, but his wolf could sustain him a bit more.

The American wolf slowly lost breath and eyes started to close.

Jack didn't hear anything he had said. His ears didn't even twitch a bit. All he had his mind focused on was to kill this 'shit'.

The vicious wolf was suddenly pushed away with great force. He landed on the ground with a loud thump.

In fury, the half wolf who had his suit ripped, and part of his pants too, looked at what had caused him to fall.

It was a guy in a red suit. It was Leo that had come pushing Jack away. He had come to the annoying Brown's rescue. Not that he intended to actually save him, he just didn't want his friend committing an unnecessary murder.

"What the fuck is wrong with you mate?!" Leo asked Jack who was now standing up, still in fury.

Brown now managed to get up, holding his neck with his hand as it still hurt badly. He coughed out a lot as he clumsily walked away from the area.

As he was limping away, with a hoarse voice, he shouted, " Fuck you and your whore ass bitch!"

This infuriated Jack again, and in full form, with his four limbs on the ground, he began to run towards Brown, but immediately, he was stopped by Leo again.

Leo, who still maintained his human form, tried to prevent him at all cost. On hearing the insult, Leo now knew why Jack was so enraged, still he tried to stop him from doing something he would later regret.

Jack's anger got worse as he saw that Leo had helped the annoying wolf escape. He then faced Leo, still in full form.

Leo didn't understand his mate anymore. As he approached him groaning, heading to him looking like the angry beast that he was, Leo saw that he was going to attack him next. He knew that his friend wasn't normal again, still, he wanted to defend himself. He wasn't terrified of Jack's wolf as him too wasn't a weakling.

Jack's wolf climbed on top of Leo with his sharp fangs visible, wanting to bite him. Leo used his hands to avoid his mouth from coming closer to his face, and then with great force, he pushed his wolf away.

The vicious wolf fell far away from Leo, as the force he had used was both his human and wolf strength. He landed with a very loud thud. Jack now shifted back into his human form.

His suit was really messed up and pants ripped at the bottom. He still had his clothes on but most of the material was shredded.

Jack now stood up and angrily thumped his fist against the wall, making that area crack.

He exclaimed out loudly in plain rage.

"You're so darn lucky I didn't want to rip my good suit," Leo said now dusting his clothe. "We both would have gone all wolf on each other."

Yelling, "Well you shouldn't have come in the way!" He still sounded angry but was now slightly stable enough not to attack his friend again. "What the hell are you even doing here?!"

Leo dressed himself, making sure he looked charmingly neat again. He now heaved a sigh as he looked at Jack, who was still boiling in anger and appeared like he was about to explode.

Leo's voice tone now calmed down, as he now spoke soothingly, "I have news."

Those words made memories of past events flash through Jack's head. It sounded familiar, although the things he remembered were actions instead.

He suddenly remembered when Charles gave him a newspaper with bad news on it, and his father's bad hand-written paper that also had bad news on it. All of the news he had been receiving was bad news, and with this in mind, he angrily bellowed at Leo.

"Can't you just let me be?!" He felt sad and angry, but sounded more angry, " Go to hell with your darned news! Leo get the hell away from me you…!"

Leo Interrupted as Jack's face was slowly turning into his wolf, " It's about Lyya"

A cold feeling suddenly ran through him. The raging volcano that seemed like it wanted to erupt, just melted in ice as he heard that name.

Every sad, angry, or related to any negative emotion ceased to exist in Jack.

His angry throbbing heart began to beat the normal way. Jack's expression changed entirely as he now went closer to Leo with a concerned, curious and desperate look.

Jack didn't have to ask Leo for him to know he wanted to hear more from him now.

Leo, who understood how Jack was going to react, spoke in a more soothing tone, " She seems to have gained consciousness."

Jack's mouth agaped in awe of the news. He covered his mouth as he tried taking in the news.

He didn't know why he felt like this; he felt like raining from his eyes. He knew he wasn't sad but rather happy.

Maybe it was the unexpected good news that had excited him, making it too much for him to take in all at once. Maybe that was what had now triggered his tears of joy.

He had not felt this way in a long time. He felt happy. Really happy.

Jack, who was now so eager to go see her, asked, feeling a bit of confusion in him, which reflected outside, " W- well, where is she? She's still at the hospital right?" Jack asked moving to and fro in a confused and anxious manner, " Can I go?  What if she doesn't want to see me?"

He appeared befuddled.

He swept back his hair then he began to walk and rush out.

Leo followed behind him who had started to run quickly with so much desperation in his eyes.

As they stopped at a place where people were crowded, still outside, Jack couldn't care less of how he looked.

His head turned both ways as he tried looking for a vehicle to get in.

"Get in my car." Leo referred to his clean sports car. They went to where it was parked and they entered.

"Where's my keys?" Leo asked himself, touching his pockets. " Hey, put this on".

He threw him his jacket. " You look like trash"

They lowered their heads as they went into the car.

Now inside the car, a song now played from the radio. It suited the feeling that Jack had inside at the moment. He couldn't help but feel anxious and also, love.

(Billie Holiday-The Happy Thought Of You, played)

By his side was Leo, who was driving the car at full speed.

Jack rested his head on the car's window as he now nervously thought of what her reaction was going to be like.

It was only for a few days that she had been in a coma, but to him, it felt like a century.

Leo tuned the music volume higher, as they rode on the road. Leo would call this a sweet moonlight ride.

Right there at the place, Jack took a deep breath in, then exhaled as he looked up at the tall hospital building where Leo had now parked.

He didn't really know why he felt a bit scared to enter.

Leo, who was dressed in his long-sleeved black inner shirt and suspenders, came out from the car.
