CHAPTER 6

It was finally morning in Xavier's two bedroom apartment. I shielded my eyes from the harsh rays of the morning sun while I drank coffee in the kitchen out of Xavier personal mug obviously.

He was still in bed considering his alarm went off like 30 minutes ago. In his defense, we did have a six pack and binge watched Supernatural till 3:00am in the morning.

While I mused about last night and how he was already late for work, I heard a yawn. I turned around and saw the man in question. He came out of his bed room and into the living room towards me, rubbing his eyes. He looked devilishly handsome with black sweatpants on and no shirt.

If I was not his best friend and family I would drool all over him.

"Why didn't you wake me Alex?"

I hid my laugh knowing what would come next after I speak.

"Well, I did try but you wouldn't budge and I assumed you wouldn't go to work today since your alarm went off like 30 minutes ago."

I took a sip of my sweet coffee to hide my already growing grin as Xavier's face morphed into one of pure horror. He sprinted to the room.

"You!!! How could you Alexis? Shit."

The laugh finally escaped my lips as I saw him trying to jump into his jeans and eat the piece of toast I made for him before hand.

"Dude chill. You'll get there…"

Eyes like daggers stared at me.

"Don't you even finish that sentence Alexis. My boss is going to bury me alive because of you."

He began to imitate how I begged him last night to stay awake with me even after he told me he had work the next day.

"Oh let's have a drink. Let's watch Dean and Sam and Cas and Crowley and that red haired witch. We haven't hung out in so long Xavier."

I handed him the mug so he could have a sip then I raised my hands in mock surrender.

"Don't blame me. I couldn't sleep because of your snoring. Take this as payback mister."

The mug was thrust back into my hands.

"Ugh too sweet. You know just how to ruin my morning Alex."

He was fully dressed before he got to the door.

"Clean and lock up when you leave yeah."

I smiled and waved him off.

"Yeah, yeah. Go on. Don't want to be late do you?"

Xavier chuckled and ran out.

I was alone now. After I cleaned and had a bath, I would head back to my base in the Carrier mansion. I still had work to do. •••••

I had finished cleaning up early in the afternoon. It took me this long because like always Xavier was a slob. Apart from our mess from last night, the whole place was a dump. I was pretty hungover so I'm pretty sure that's why I didn't notice it all at first.

I was set, still having my stolen maids uniform in my bag. The only issue was I couldn't leave now. A maid entering the house through the bushes in the afternoon was suspicious. I had to go in the evening, when dinner was being served.

In the meantime, I got my phone and went through the saved footage I had from all the recorders I installed in the mansion some days back. They helped as I couldn't be everywhere at once.

I browsed through all the footage and saw nothing notable happening. Not one member of the Carrier family was even around, just the help.

I sighed and decided to switch to the cameras and trackers I placed in their respective cars.

Genevieve was first. She was at her sisters place.

I switched through all the electronics in everyone's vehicle. Checking them until I settled on Georges empty car. A sigh escaped my lips as I sighed in frustration. No one was there therefore no new information. I hated being stuck like this.

As I was about scream out a string of profanity, I heard the car door open and shut. I turned my eyes back to the phone screen.

George was in the car but instead of driving off he sat still and bounced his leg up and down anxiously.

I had never seen him that way. He was always calm and collected when he was out of the house. The passenger door opened up and I saw a figure with a fedora and a black coat enter the car. George stopped moving and spoke.

"Of all the places you choose here. The parking lot of my NGO. What do you want Fredrick?"

The Fredrick guy didn't remove his hat so I couldn't see his face but he spoke in a harsh tone.

"Do you know what you're doing George? How it will it will affect us. The community?"

George shrugged and frowned.

"I have no idea of what you're talking about. I don't…"

Fredrick didn't give him a chance to even complete his sentence. Maybe he could tell that George was lying to him like I could.

"We know. Do not keep pets after you've played with them. They are diseased. Get rid of them. "

George moved to speak but Fredrick didn't give him a chance.

"I also know about your extra hobby. Stop it before the community takes disciplinary action."

I felt him smirk when he reached for the door handle.

"You wouldn't want to lose everything would you."

Fedora guy opened the door and stepped out leaving a stunned George to think about what transpired.

"What the fuck just happened?" was the first thing that left my mouth.

What were they really talking about? Was it that serious that George could lose everything he had?

Also was the community a social club or something far more sinister.

I rubbed my face in annoyance at my lack of answers then brought out my notepad and jotted down what happened and the questions I needed answered. I recorded everything but it didn't hurt to have two sources of evidence.

For the next few minutes nothing happened. George drove home with an outraged look.

I checked my watch. 5:15pm. Xavier would be back by 8:00pm. I couldn't wait till then. I grabbed my bag and headed out following the same road I used in getting out to get back to the mansion.

The lights were on so I had to enter through the back where I could sneak in through the crawl space in the back fence. I got to the spot and removed the fake bushes covering the hole. I quickly changed into the maid uniform and slipped through easily.

Due to my previous reconnaissance missions of the grounds, I knew where all the alarms. Plus, they didn't let the dogs out until 8:00pm so I was golden.

I finally reached the building after carefully avoiding three alarms between the wall and the house. I got to the kitchen door.

I strained my ears and tried to hear if anyone was inside or if they were still serving dinner. After being sure the coast was clear I opened the door and walked in.

The aroma of the food wafted into my nose and my stomach growled in response. I looked at the food in the kitchen and I was sure no one would mind if I snagged a few.

I took some freshly baked bread, cheese, grapes, a bottle of wine I think and a huge helping of chocolate cake. Yes, I love food.

After I placed most of the food in my bag, I left the kitchen and sneaked back through the hallway to the staffs bath. Once I got there, I sighted the attic door.

"Ah home free."

Considering my haul, some information I got today and the fact I hadn't been caught yet, I would say I had a pretty good day. I put one foot in front of the other walking towards the attic door when my mind froze as I saw who came into my line of sight. Before I could stop myself, I bumped into her.

"Ow. Hey..."

Fuck. Why couldn't I keep my mouth shut. There went my good luck streak.
