The Erebus Clan had seven main positions that denoted one's status.

Before anyone could qualify for any of those positions, they first had to have Chaos grade talents at the very least as well as passable daos otherwise, they would be utterly rejected.

The lowest level of status within the clan, not counting mortal bloodline bearers that didn't cultivate and branch members, was the Lance position.

This position was akin to a General's within the clan. During each generation, twelve lances were selected by the previous lances as they would hand their title down and hopefully attempt to gain higher status. Almost all pillars had been lances at one point.
