"Thank you," Allicia muttered to the taxi driver as she paid the fare. She turned around and walked into the mall.
The Centre Mall was the largest in the entire city and it served both ordinary customers and others with premium membership in the city. The moment Allicia stepped into the mall, she knew that it lived up to its name as the biggest mall. Customers who came into the mall were well received by the workers.
"Welcome to Centre Mall, Miss, how may I be of help to you?" A young lady walked up to her and asked with a pleasant smile.
"Ah, thanks," Allicia said as she lifted her gaze to look at the lady. "Can you please bring me to the kid's section?" Allicia asked politely.
"Of course, please come with me," the lady said and led the way to another section of the mall.
After a few turns, they came to a section that only had kids' clothes, toys, and other things that related to children.
"Is there any other thing that I can help you with?" The lady asked politely after they had stopped and Allicia shook her head softly.
"No, thank you. I can handle the rest on my own" she said.
The shopping lady smiled and nodded before stepping aside to attend to other customers. Allicia surfed through the clothing section and carefully picked out clothes for both kids. She spent about twenty minutes picking out clothes and she only stopped when she felt like she had picked enough. Thinking of picking out something for her friend who had been helping her, she also went to the jewellery section, she carefully looked through the different designs until her eyes fell on a silver bracelet that she liked.
It was a charm bracelet, it suits Ava's personality so much that she did not hesitate to ask for the bracelet to be packed in a small gift bag. She finally walked to the cashier and got into the line to get her goods paid for. However, just as she waited in line, a scene broke out in front of the cashier.
"What is it? If you don't have enough money to pay for the watch, you can just return it or go for a cheaper one!"
Allicia heard the voice of one of the shopping lady in at the cashier and she at her her brow. She was not surprised at this, after all, it was not the first time that she would be seeing such a scene in a shopping mall. Scenes like this were common occurrences.
"What?! You want this watch? But, you are unable to pay for it? Are you joking?" The angry voice of the cashier sounded again.
"Please, if you can let me make a deposit of half payment, I will return immediately to complete the remaining payment!"
It was then that Allicia heard the voice of the other person, it was a girl's voice. Allicia lifted her gaze and could not help but look in the direction of the voice. She was stunned when she saw the person standing in front of the cashier. It was actually a teenage girl, she looked pitiful and helpless. Allicia could tell from the girl's young face that she was barely eighteen years old.
"Hilarious! You want to make half payment? Do you think we are running charity events here?!" The cashier snapped at the girl causing her to jump. Despite the harshness, the girl still held on to the wristwatch box and refuse to let it go. She was quite adamant.
"Take it as I am begging you... if you don't believe me, my dad owns a big company and he can pay the money immediately but… just help me this once and I will pay back at once!" The girl pleaded.
However, the cashier pushed the girl sharply, and the young girl lose her balance and almost fell. Allicia frowned deeply and immediately rushed forward, she grabbed this young girl and steadied her on her feet.
"Do you intend to wound the girl?" Allicia could not help but snap at the cashier. The cashier stepped back and almost lost her footing. She looked at who had stopped her and could not help but glare at Allicia.
"Who are you and why are you being so nosy?" The cashier yelled at Allicia.
Allicia's frown deepened when she saw how the lady spoke to her, she was just about to respond when someone spoke before her.
"What is happening here?"
It was a sweet feminine voice, it caused a ripple in the hearts of all that heard it and everyone could not help but to look up subconsciously. Standing a short distance away was a lady, she was dressed in a simple but elegant cream-coloured gown, her shoes and the bag she carried were both the latest Chanel designs. A slight smile pressed against her lips as she stepped closer to where the cashier stood.
"What is happening here?" She eyes Allicia and the young girl expressionlessly before fixing her gaze on the cashier.
Compared to the scowl that was on the cashier's face when she looked at Allicia and the little girl, a flattering smile immediately spread on her face as she bowed at the lady.
"Miss Olivia, it is good that you are here! These two people here are trying to cause trouble for me! The girl wants to buy this watch but she is unable to pay for it. I asked her to drop the watch and leave politely if she cannot afford it however, she is planning to snatch it away while the other lady is aiding her!" The cashier blurted out while pointing at Allicia and the young girl.
Allicia was furious when she heard the cashier's explanation. But, before she was able to speak, the girl beat her it.
"Liar! I am not trying to snatch the watch away and no one is aiding me! You clearly pushed me and made me trip while this sister here is just helping me!" The girl cried. Then, she looked up at the lady called 'Miss Olivia' and a distinct light reflected in her eyes.
"Miss Olivia, please help me, I–" the girl started but, before she completed her words, she was interrupted.
"Sorry, little girl but, do I know you?" A gentle yet arrogant voice echoed in the people's ears.
Allicia knitted her brows while the girl swallowed. She lowered her head and pinched the sides of her dress.
"I am sorry. We have only met once before but, Miss Olivia might not recall. At the audition for the female lead of 'Rising of The Half Moon', I met you there" The girl said softly.
Allicia watched the other lady closely and she almost caught the ridicule that crossed the lady's eyes when she heard the girl's words.
"Oh, it was you. That little girl who wanted the position of the female lead. It is a pity that the position is above your reach, you are only eighteen" Miss Olivia voiced.
The girl nodded. She could not tell but Allicia knew that this 'Miss Olivia' was obviously ridiculing the young girl. Allicia was still unfamiliar with the country so she was unaware that this 'Miss Olivia' was nearly the best actress in the country and because only a few people were at the mall at that moment, few people paid attention to her.
"Miss Olivia, please help me. I cannot afford to lose the wristwatch, I- I will complete the payment as soon as I get back home, I promise!" The girl said and pleaded with the lady.
"How can I help you like this, little girl? The mall has its policies, if I stand in for you today, other people will want someone to stand in for them too when they don't have money to pay" Olivia said in the softest voice ever.
"But, I really promise–"
"Enough, young girl! This is a place for serious business not a place to make promises! You have heard me, if you don't have money, just leave and let me attend to other important people!" The cashier uttered sharply.
Allicia could no longer take it, she looked at the young girl whose eyes were already filled with years and reluctance to drop the box. She grabbed the girl's wrist and pushed the girl behind her.
"Who said there is no money to pay?" Allicia glared at the cashier.
"The girl clearly has no money to pay!" The cashier voiced, she really did not like how Allicia was being so nosy.
Just when Allicia was about to speak, Olivia interrupted her. "Miss, I understand that you are concerned with the young girl but–"
Before Olivia could complete her statement, a sharp gaze from Allicia caused her to short her mouth.
"Who are you, do I know you?" Allicia glared at the lady and said.
"If you don't want to help, don't stop others who are willing to help!" She retorted coldly.
Then, she dip her hand into her bag and took out a card, she tossed it at the cashier and also pushed her cart forward.
"Here, make the payment for everything and pack them properly!" She ordered.
