Betrayal and loss

Bang! Bang! Bang!

The two children flinched at the sound of the three gunshots. They were already far from the house, making their way through the tall grass.

They were trembling with fear as the gunshots could only mean one thing—something bad had happened to Rigor.

After the gunfire, they immediately looked for a place to hide. The bright moonlight made it easier for them to see their path through the tall grass, which was almost as tall as they were.

They heard the sounds of footsteps following them, so Venedict quickly pulled Venice behind a large tree, covering her mouth to stifle her sobs.

Venice continued to cry, shaking from the fear of the gunshots and what might have happened to Rigor.

"Venice, please, we have to be quiet." Venedict whispered, even his own voice quivering with fear.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Another round of gunfire erupted, the shots echoing through the night in rapid succession.
