Long-awaited prize

"C-Cute?" Daniel asked shyly.

"Yes, cute! A very cute girl!"

"Then is s-she cuter than your puppy?" Daniel asked innocently, causing Victor to pause and then burst into laughter.

"Hahaha! She's cuter than my puppy! Hahaha! If she ever heard you say that, she might get mad at you—"

"Who are you talking about?" came a small yet serious voice from behind Victor.

Slowly, Victor turned around, and the color drained from his face.

Daniel also turned to look, and it felt like his world stopped. The word 'cute' wasn't enough to describe the girl in front of him.

She was ten times, no, a hundred times cuter than Victor's puppy and even the doll his grandpa had given him. Her eyes were bright and curious, her cheeks a rosy pink, and she wore a small frown as she looked at them.
