Chapter 43

Chapter 43

  Myrah's POV

On the carpeted floor, I was seated cross-legged with the red box in front of me. I exhaled deeply before wiping away the tears that seemed to continue to fall of their own will.

I reopened it and stared at the image that had brought tears to my eyes while my hands were quivering. It was a lovely image of me when I was eighteen, with Alton positioned in front of Alisa. Our smiles were contagious.

That was one of our favorite and greatest photos of the two of us. Back then, an enlarged version of it was proudly hung on the wall in the living room, and we all had a copy of it. Sadly, it was pulled down when Dad went away, and I haven't seen it since.

Every other memory I had in the form of photos or films had also been removed, along with my copy. I was ecstatic to see it after nearly five years.

A letter was taped to the back of the picture as I turned it over. It was written in Alton's hand.
