I heard a knock on the door a few seconds after the footsteps got closer. I said nothing. I got up softly and walked quickly in the direction of the door.

Until the person gave up and spoke up, the knocking went on. It's me, Mrs. Alexander. "You have guests," said a voice that I knew to be one of my security guards. Feeling a sense of relief, I made my way towards the door.

"Who is it, and what do they want?" I enquired. Not yet, anyhow. I couldn't open the door. I was the first to demand all the details.

He told me, "It's Mr. Melvin and Miss Caylee," and the relief that had filled me vanished. Why were they in this place?

"Are they alone, and are they armed?"

"Mr. Melvin appears to be too weak to do anything with his rifle. They are fighting by themselves.
