Chapter 4: Unseen Threats

The morning sun rose with a sense of calmness that seemed to carry over from the previous evening's warm family dinner. I awoke with a renewed sense of purpose, though the world outside my window remained blissfully unaware of the struggles and triumphs that unfolded in my life.

After a light breakfast and a brief check-in with my family, I prepared to head to the dojo once again. The sense of progress I had felt the day before still lingered, fueling my eagerness to push further and refine my abilities.

Upon arriving at the "Thunder Cross" dojo, I noticed a group of students engaged in an intense sparring session. Their movements were sharp and precise, showcasing the level of discipline and skill the dojo was known for. It was a stark reminder of the competitive environment I was a part of, and the importance of maintaining my edge.

I greeted the receptionist, Lady Ming, who looked up from her desk with a knowing smile.

"Back again, Victor?" she asked.

"Absolutely," I replied with a determined grin. "I've got a few new techniques to test out."

She nodded, giving me a reassuring pat on the shoulder. "Good luck. Don't push yourself too hard."

I acknowledged her concern and made my way to the training area. Today, I was determined to further explore the effects of the purple orb's mental energy and its influence on my martial arts techniques.

I started with basic drills, focusing on integrating the newfound mental sharpness with my physical training. The combination of the "Swift Shadows" Palm technique and my enhanced mental awareness allowed me to execute movements with an almost intuitive precision. The training machine's speed seemed sluggish compared to my heightened perception, and I felt a thrill as I effortlessly danced around its obstacles.

After an hour of rigorous training, I felt a sense of satisfaction and fatigue settling in. I decided it was time to experiment with the mental energy in a different context. I approached one of the sparring areas where a few students ranging from the 3rd stage Martial Student to 6th stage Students were engaged in a controlled fight.

"Mind if I join in?" I asked, addressing one of the more experienced 5th-stage students, a tall and muscular fighter named Kenji. He specializes in defense and trains to be a defense master.

Kenji looked up, sizing me up with a curious expression. "Sure, Victor. But don't hold back. We'll see how you handle a real fight."

I nodded and stepped into the sparring ring, the air charged with anticipation. Kenji's fighting style was aggressive and direct, a contrast to my more fluid approach. As the match began, I immediately felt the difference that the mental energy made.

Kenji's strikes were fast and powerful, but my heightened senses allowed me to predict and counter his movements with greater accuracy. The mental energy provided an added layer of awareness, enabling me to read his intentions before they materialized. It was like being able to see into the future, just a fraction of a second ahead.

Despite my newfound advantage, Kenji was a formidable opponent. His relentless attacks tested my endurance and reaction time, and I had to constantly adapt to his shifting strategies. The fight was intense, each of us pushing our limits to gain the upper hand.

"Rock Fang!!" Kenji shouted as he used his martial technique that creates sharp stone pillars that traveled at me in a wave formation.

"Blurr Step" my body became a blurr and phased through Kenji's technique. Nearly avoiding it.

After several minutes of fierce combat, Kenji finally managed to land a solid hit, knocking me to the ground. I rolled with the impact, using the momentum to quickly regain my feet. We both paused, breathing heavily, and Kenji offered me a nod of respect.

"Impressive," he said, wiping sweat from his brow. "You've come a long way for a 3rd stage haha."

"Thanks," I replied, feeling a mix of pride and exhaustion. "But I'm not a 3rd stage anymore"

I smiled, " I just became an early 5th stage."

Kenji's eyes widened slightly. " You son of a gun, silently reaching my level to ambush me heh"

I shrugged my shoulders at his narcism.

"Victor you better sneakily kill him next time", yelled one guy from the crowd.

"On whose side are you on you traitor?", said Kenji with bloodshot eyes.

The crowd erupted in laughter.

After the sparring session, I took a moment to cool down and reflect. My physical training and martial skills are crucial, but reaching the same stage as Kenji didn't make me as strong as him. I lacked real fighting experience and I knew just where to get that.

As I was leaving the dojo, a sudden chill swept through the air, making me shiver. It was a peculiar feeling, as though something unseen was lurking just beyond my perception. I dismissed it as a result of overexertion and continued on my way.

Back at home, I found myself unable to shake the uneasy feeling from earlier. The sense of foreboding lingered, a subtle reminder that not all threats were immediately visible. As I walked through the door, my mother greeted me with a warm smile.

"Back so soon?" she asked. "How was training?"

"It was good," I said, trying to push aside my unease. "I made some progress and had a good sparring session."

"That's great to hear," she replied, her expression reflecting her genuine pride. "Dinner will be ready soon. Why don't you freshen up and relax for a bit?"

I nodded and headed to my room. As I changed and tried to unwind, I couldn't help but feel that something was amiss. My training and progress were on track, but the lingering sense of danger weighed heavily on my mind.

My instinct told me to check my storage and that's what I did.

"Storage"

And there I saw it. A new exclamation mark on the picture of a golden key with an intricate design right next to the Stellar Body Forging Technique.

Curious I touched the key and it materialized before me.

ZZz7z7uezhz.... a new change started happening to the red-black screen. On the bottom of the screen appeared a purple keyhole with golden accents.

The key is from the "Storage" so maybe it can bring me back, through the keyhole to that Dimension???

I nodded and headed to my room. As I changed and tried to unwind, I couldn't help but feel that something was amiss. My training and progress were on track, but the lingering sense of danger weighed heavily on my mind.

My instinct told me to check my storage and that's what I did.

"Storage"

And there I saw it. A new exclamation mark on the picture of a golden key with an intricate design right next to the Stellar Body Forging Technique.

Curious I touched the key and it materialized before me.

My fingers hovered over the golden key as it materialized before me. Its intricate design glinted in the dim light of my room, and I couldn't shake the feeling that this was a significant development. The presence of the exclamation mark next to it on the storage screen indicated its importance, and my curiosity was piqued.

I reached out tentatively and picked up the key. The sensation was both electrifying and soothing as if the key resonated with a hidden energy. The surface was warm to the touch, and the craftsmanship was exquisite, with delicate patterns etched into the metal.

As I studied the key, the red-black screen of the storage window began to change. The once-static interface now had a new feature: a purple keyhole with golden accents appeared at the bottom of the screen. It seemed to beckon, as though inviting me to try the key.A thought crossed my mind: Could this key be the means to return to the dimension I had encountered previously? The idea was both thrilling and unsettling. If the keyhole was connected to the mysterious realm, it could mean new opportunities for growth or unforeseen dangers.

With a deep breath, I made a decision. I needed to investigate this further, even if it meant stepping into the unknown once more.

My recent training had heightened my senses and abilities, but I couldn't ignore the potential risks.

I held the key up to the keyhole on the screen. As I aligned it with the purple, golden-framed slot, a soft, melodic chime echoed through the room. The key seemed to almost melt into the keyhole, and the screen shimmered with a vibrant glow.

A swirling vortex of energy began to form within the keyhole, its colors shifting between deep purples and shimmering golds and reds. The sight was mesmerizing, and a sense of anticipation built up inside me.

I took a step closer to the screen, my heart pounding with a mix of excitement and apprehension.

The swirling vortex grew larger, and I could feel a gentle pull as if urging me to enter.

I reached out and touched the edge of the vortex. The sensation was cool and tingling, like dipping my fingers into a stream of liquid starlight.

But I started to hesitate, I can't just leave my family for how knows how long after I said that I would be there for Dinner.

The swirling vortex slowly shrank and eventually vanished, leaving behind only the golden key with its delicate, mystical patterns. I stared at the key for a moment, the weight of my decision pressing heavily on my mind. The realm beyond the vortex held immense potential for growth and discovery, but it wasn't the right time to abandon my family.

I had promised them my presence, and that commitment was important to me.

I carefully placed the key back into the "Storage" and closed the interface. The familiar red-black screen faded, leaving me with a sense of unfinished business and a hint of frustration.

With a deep breath, I resolved to focus on the immediate responsibilities and maintain my commitment to my family.

I made my way to the bathroom and stepped into the shower, letting the warm water cascade over me. The soothing sensation helped to clear my mind and wash away the remnants of tension and doubt. The warmth of the water was a stark contrast to the cool, tingling feeling I had experienced with the vortex, and it served as a grounding reminder of my current reality.

As I showered, my thoughts wandered back to the day's events. The sense of urgency and the pull of the other dimension were strong, but I needed to balance that with my responsibilities at home. My family had always been my support system, and their unwavering belief in me was something I cherished deeply.

After a refreshing shower, I dressed in comfortable clothes and made my way back downstairs. The aroma of dinner wafted through the house, and I could hear the cheerful chatter of my family. I felt a renewed sense of determination to be present for them and to enjoy this moment of togetherness.

When I entered the kitchen, my mother was finishing up the last touches on the meal, while my father and Elaine set the table. The warmth of the kitchen and the sight of my family brought a smile to my face.

"Hey there," my mother said, glancing over her shoulder with a smile. "You look refreshed. Dinner will be ready in just a few minutes."

"Thanks, Mom," I replied, joining them at the table. "I'm ready to eat."
