Chapter 1

"What are you doing? Looking for superpowers?" Enezel laughed. I look at him with intimidating eyes causing him to swallow his saliva. "Yow, chill. I'm just joking."

He is the only man my father trusts. He always got an A+ grade whenever our teacher gives us a quiz. And yes, he's working as a cook in our family. He's a working student.

"Enezel, how's your mom?" dad asked him while slicing the steak. Enezel sighed causing me to know the answer before he says it. "She's not doing well, sir." he said. Dad patted his head and gave him a smile. "Don't worry about the bill. Study hard and give me straight A's."

His mom was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer. He's looking for a job just to sustain and survive this cruel reality until dad found him lying on the street with a high fever.

"Examination day is approaching, Eula." dad said in monotone. "Don't worry, I'll be part of the dean's lister again." I assured him. Dad wants nothing except academic validation that's why I grow up thinking that only academic validation will satisfy my soul.

"Eula!" I smiled when I heard Mico's voice. "Your lunch!" he said heavely, causing me to laugh. Mico is my gay bestfriend since we were in grade school. At first, I have a crush on him but finding out that he like boys well, I stop. "Where's Enezel?"

"You really like, Enezel?"

He smiled while pointing my shoulders. "Okay, I got it. What should I do? Want me to introduce him to you?" he immediately nodded. "Wow, really fast huh?" I rolled my eyes while walking until I arrived at our classroom.

There, I saw him sitting in a chair with a guitar on his hands. He's wearing a color black hoodie and an oversize pants. His hair is messy and his wearing his specs glasses and I can smell his scent. His lavender scent.

"Eula! What's the matter? Are you okay?" Mico asked me while pinching my hands. "A-ah yes! I'm okay!" I stuttered. "Are you sure?" he gave me a malicious look causing me to be insecure. "Of course!" I respond. "Defensive." he whispered.

It's my weakness to see a man who's good at playing guitar that's why my heart pounded a little bit when I saw him playing. I went to him and just what I said, I introduce Mico to him. "EJ, this is Mico my bestfriend. Mico, this is Enezel my..."

"Your what?" EJ looked at me with one eyebrow raised.

"My friend."

"Hi! I'm Mico! I like you!"

My eyes wided when I heard what he said. "What?!" I whispered and looked at him out of curiosity why he said it vocally. "I like him... I like your friend, Eula." Enezel put his guitar on his desk and introduced himself to Mico politely.

"Hi, I'm Enezel Jake Miller. Nice to meet you Mico-..."

"Ah! Mico Feliz Piero."

"Yes, nice meeting you Mico. I do appreciate that you like me."

Why I'm I here?

"Don't worry, EJ-"

"Call him Enezel."

"Strict? Suspicious huh? Okay, Don't worry Enezel. I'm not chasing or going after you. I just want you to know that I like you. No pressure!" he said. Enezel laughed and thanked him.

"I didn't know that you're strict when someone is calling me EJ." he whispered causing me to feel something on my cheeks. I ignored him and immediately sat on my chair and review for the upcoming test.

"Your score?" he asked while trying to take a look on my paper. I don't want him to know my score 'cause I already knew that he got the highest score. "None of your business." I said in monotone. Ana approach EJ and she looked at me, maybe trying to judge my body.

"Are you free later? Can we have lunch together?" my eyes rolled out of nowhere when I heard their conversation. I already informed him earlier to be with me at the mall because I'm looking for make-up products and he said yes, that's why I assume that he declined Ana's offer.

My eyes widened and my lips start to form a smile when he stuttered. "I-I have something to do later-" before he finished, Ana said something. "Can I go with you?" out of frustration, I stand up, and confidently declined her request. "No." I said. She rolled her eyes causing me to laugh. "Why are you laughing?" she asked in confusion with one eyebrow raised. "You don't need to know the reason." she hissed. "Why? Just tell me!" she raised her voice causing to get the attention of our classmates. "You don't need to know anything." I calmly said. She left the classroom because of frustration.

"What time are we going to finish?" he asked. "Why? Are you going to have a spare time with her? Nice, huh? Pathetic." I heard his laugh that's why I looked at him. "What's funny?" I asked with one eyebrow raised. "You're strict, I understand. I have to endure that for the rest of my life."

"Why do you need to endure it? We're not going to be together, forever." I sarcastically said.

"Together, forever. I promise that Eula."

I sarcastically smiled at him. I didn't even try to understand what he said 'cause I don't want to. But, somehow I feel something. Something that makes me nervous at the same time it's something that can make me smile. It's surreal. A strange feeling that looks like a dream. A dream that can make me like reality. A reality that I hope to not be my dream 'cause dreams have a nightmares and nightmares do exist.
