Chapter Nine: Trial by Fire

"How am I going to train this body technique, Master?" Li Wei inquired, curiosity lacing his tone.

Long San's gaze held a hint of mischief as he revealed, "It requires you to get cooked inside this cauldron with many rare herbs."

Li Wei's eyes widened in disbelief. He exchanged a perplexed look with Long San, his mind racing to understand the seemingly bizarre requirement. "Master, don't tell me you eat human beings, especially handsome boys of my age, by boiling us in a big pot with cooking ingredients," he quipped, a mix of shock and humor in his words.

Black lines filled Long San's face as he stared at Li Wei, his expression a mix of disbelief and frustration. "Brat, are you looking to die?" he roared, his tone a potent mixture of indignation and annoyance.

Li Wei's eyes widened as he hurried to backtrack, realizing that his jest had struck a nerve. "I-I didn't mean it like that, Master! I was just surprised."

Long San's anger seemed to subside slightly, replaced by a mixture of exasperation and amusement. "Kid, you've got a knack for finding the most unexpected ways to drive me up the wall."

Li Wei scratched the back of his head, sheepishness coloring his expression. "Sorry, Master. I'll take training seriously."

Long San's lips twitched into a reluctant smile. "Alright, alright. Enough with the theatrics. I promise you won't be turned into a stew. The cauldron is a means to infuse your body with the essence of the herbs, not to cook you."

Li Wei nodded, relief flooding through him. "I understand, Master."

"Good," Long San said, his tone more even. "This trial won't be easy, but it's necessary for you to harness the power of the Primordial Fiend Body Technique. Embrace the process, endure the discomfort, and you'll emerge stronger."

Li Wei took a deep breath, determination burning in his eyes. "I'm ready, Master."
