"We have morning class today?"
"Oh no! I forgot to mention it! She's definitely gonna be late!"
"Haha. Let's just hope that she comes back from the cafeteria before teacher does."
"Isn't that sudden?"
"Yeah. The teacher came this morning and said she'd take a morning class."
"An unannounced morning class."
I trudge to my seat. Like I heard, I didn't know we had morning class today and arrived a bit late. Luckily the teacher isn't here already.
"I heard she's going to introduce a new classmate."
I tilt my head owing to their conversation.
"In the middle of the semester? What an unfortunate guy."
"I know right. We have an exam next month too."
I look to the side of the empty seat.
I guess this seat next to me will be for the new student.
I'm curious. Somewhat.
With the bell ringing, our teacher Miss Yana walks into our classroom with a boy following after.
I stare to the side of his left arm.
He's wearing long sleeves in the middle of summer.
He doesn't have any attractive features but as he faces us, we all find ourselves captivated by him.
He isn't too tall nor too short. His physique might be a bit too slender and the fluff nest of a hair he has stands out more than those round eyebags under his eyes. At first glance he looks alarming. But so soon as he starts to speak, we know it…
He's a gentle guy.
A gentle smile wears on his lips, he continues to introduce himself. "My name is Sain Sinzer. I hope we can be friends."
Miss Yana continues his statement.
"Listen everyone. Sain Sinzer has recently shifted in our town. He still lacks a lot behind and has many things to do. I hope all of you will be cooperative so that he can pick up his studies." She directs him to sit next to me as I expected.
"Your classes will start after 10 minutes. Don't leave the classroom until then."
She exits with that said.
I haven't noticed before but as he walks closer to me, I start to see.
Red little bruise marks on top of his palm.
For being considerate I don't ask him the cause but proceed to make acquaintances with him.
"I hope you don't mind my company for the rest of the year."
He puts his bag and politely grins at me. "Not at all. I'll be glad to know your name."
"My name is Eclise."
"Cool!"
"His name sounds like a name outta game, right, Sain?" The boy on my other side, Dew sways his chair as he speaks with him.
"Haha. You're right. His name does sound cool. Except for the fact that I've never played a game."
I and Dew find ourselves pitying him. I, for one, am certain that he must have some family problems. Since we are meeting for the first time i better not ask him about his family.
"Sain. I'll lend you my notebooks and sheets about our classes. If you need more help, i can help tutor you."
I can see his charcoal black iris glow up out of admiration. Without those eyebags he sure has some round eye sockets.
"You're a life saver Eclise! I'm glad I'm sitting next to you!"
"Now you're making me embarrassed." I giggle courteously.
But he narrows his gazes and sorrowfully looks down. "I thought i might not be able to get along with anyone in this school because of my appearance." He rubs his fore hairs as if to hide his eyes. "I'm aware that I look a bit scary. And intimidating…"
I feel the urge to say something encouraging. Ahhh. Nooo. What should i say?! Why does he sound like a frail little girl! I really do feel embarrassed now!
"Ahh noo! You don't look intimidating at all! Right, Dew?!" I gesture at him.
"Err yeah!"
"Haha. I'm not worried about that anymore. This is a nice school in a nice town. I'm loving it in here."
What a bright smile he has. I feel I need to keep that face smiling.
What is this?! Parental love?! Or my older brother instincts.
I sigh. Whatever. I really do hope that we can enjoy the rest of the year together.
