New Life

2022.

Due to the worldwide spread of the coronavirus, all of humanity, just like me, decided to isolate themselves at home and postpone all social activities. It's been almost a few months since I locked myself at home.

During this time, I also started playing more video games and eating more. As the days went by, I could feel my arms getting flabby. Additionally, the fatty breasts swaying in front of my eyes were already a reminder that I was just a few steps away from becoming obese.

One of today's important agenda news is that people have been told they can go outside cautiously and with precautions in place.

After a long hiatus, thinking that walking under the sun could be good for my legs and body, I got ready and, after putting on a mask on my face, stepped outside with my tight-fitting clothes.

When I made first contact with the sunlight, I was nearly blinded; I struggled to keep my eyes open for a few seconds. But finally, I adjusted, and as I looked at the sky, the chirping of the birds became clearer.

The remnants of the gentle breeze that was blowing were hitting me and lifting up my tight clothes.

After taking a deep breath behind the mask, I decided to go shopping in a store for the first time in a long while.

First, I needed to buy new clothes for myself. I wasn't sure how much longer I could manage with the ones I was wearing. As I reached the front of the clothing store, the quiet streets were beginning to fill with a few cars.

Life seemed to be slowly returning to normal. People were venturing out again in their cars. As I was about to enter the clothing store, I heard the honk of a car and turned around to see what was happening.

When I saw a van-style vehicle rapidly approaching towards me, I let out a masculine yet equally startled scream.

I had never imagined I would be this unlucky. The first time I wanted to go out, I was on the brink of being run over by a van.

The van hit me and managed to stop only after crashing into the interior of the clothing store. Moreover, due to my obese body, I realized that I had gotten trapped under the van and had lost my life right there.

Suddenly, I found myself floating in a silent and dark place.

Was this what they called death?

For a while, I battled with myself in the midst of silence. When I attempted to move, it felt as if something was obstructing me.

After a brief struggle, I heard the voice of a gracefully toned and beautiful girl. When I realized she was addressing me, the anger and coldness within me vanished instantly.

"Dear unfortunate youth, I apologize for the mistake that led to your death. Please allow me to seek forgiveness for my error. In this way, I can grant you a new life... Let's see, what could make you happy? Hmm... Perhaps this will work. I wish you success in your new life, young man. Also, let me remind you. In your new life, you must pay attention to everything."

Hey hey! Wait a minute...

I tried to respond to the girl's voice, but I couldn't succeed. She was no longer there, and I started to feel alone in that dark place once again.

When I thought about what the girl had said, it felt as if it had come straight out of a manga.

I suddenly felt something changing within my body, and my vision shifted abruptly. I found myself awakening in a narrow gap between two buildings, cast in the shadows. My body was experiencing a slight ache, and as I turned my eyes in the direction of the pain, I saw that the body I was in did not belong to me.

"What the hell is this?" I said. I had a weak body. Furthermore, a piece of shrapnel was stuck in the lower left corner of my abdomen, and the bleeding continued.

Damn it, I had just died a moment ago, and now am I going to die again?! No... I can't allow this.

(Reincarnation Angel's POV)

"Achoo..." I think I'm catching a cold. *Sniffle.*

...

I managed to lift my injured body to my feet. Although walking was a struggle, I still had enough strength to take a few steps.

*Loud noises and commotion.*

*Sounds of things toppling over.*

Intense sounds were echoing around. I couldn't see what was happening outside. To get out from between the buildings, I leaned my shoulder against one of them and managed to crawl my way out through the gap between the buildings.

*Car alarms blaring.*

*Sounds of people screaming.*

Everyone was running around in a frightened manner. The alarm sounds from the cars were echoing through all the streets.

To understand what was happening, when I looked up at the sky, I noticed a city suspended there.

"Fuck. You must be kidding, right?"

When I saw the city hanging in the sky, I immediately understood where I was. Some debris pieces were still falling from the city to the ground, causing the earth to tremble as if from an earthquake.

But what I was seeing now was the Ascent map from Valorant.

I can't control the excitement in my heart. Damn it, so it seems the stories where you come to life in the universe you've fantasized about the most are true after all.

As my vision started to darken, all the energy in my body had been drained, and the last thing I saw was my descent to the ground.

Damn it, am I dying again?

I can hear the distant echoes of ambulance sirens.

"Damn it, I'm here! Save me first. I don't want to die. I've finally got the chance to come to this universe I've always dreamed of, and I don't want to die and disappear."
