Miscommunication

Late at night, I woke up and went downstairs to get some water to drink.

Well, I didn't actually wake up since I hadn't slept or even winked. I was so preoccupied with the conversation I had this afternoon with the woman who visited Dad in the hospital.

Also, I couldn't really sleep in this house.

The house I used to share with Gab.

I didn't know that he kept this house after our divorce. I thought he sold it to someone.

It was surreal to walk into this house. It's like I am back in the past since everything is still the way I left it. The furniture, the appliances and even the stained walls of the kitchen; are all the same as before.

I know better than to stay in this house with him but I had no choice since Dad's residence is 4 hours drive away from the hospital and the nearest hotel is 2, compared to the half hour drive in this house.

I open the fridge and get a bottle of water. I twist the bottle cap open as I close the fridge door.

"Can't sleep?"
