Chapter 30: poison ivy flirt with dane

"But the arrival of General Zod is just one of the many disasters yet to come," he said.

"It's more difficult to address, but that doesn't mean it's unsolvable."

Batman understood the implication: There are still many disasters in the future?

"Yes," Dane continued. "Many, like Seaside City, could be attacked by sea creature. If one of these attacks succeeds, Earth won't even survive Zod's arrival."

Batman felt tension building on room. "What else?"

"And then there's Darkseid. You may not know him, but understand this: he is one of the gods of an alien planet. His power far surpasses anything we possess—he is a true god. You can imagine the gravity of the situation just from that."

Dane grimaced. "Alright, now that we've covered alien invasions, what about our planet issues?"

" our planet issues?" Jason, who had been silently observing from the sidelines, now fully grasped the scale of the impending catastrophe. A chill ran through him as he thought, How are we supposed to deal with all of this?

"Go on," Batman said, his tone steadier as he adjusted his focus.

"Have you heard of the legend of Atlantis?"

"Of course," Batman replied. "You're not going to tell me it's real, are you?"

"Unfortunately, it is real," Dane confirmed. "The kingdom lies hidden deep beneath the ocean. For years, humanity has polluted the seas in the name of industrial progress, and they're nearing their breaking point."

Batman's expression hardened. "War?"

"Yes, war. This crisis is extremely delicate. It's not about how strong we are—it's about how the Justice League can resolve the conflict peacefully. Forcing a truce with power might only create a new problem. "

Batman understood the implications. Not everyone could resist the temptation to rule through power. Once tasted, the allure of control could consume even the best of intentions.

Dane recalled the descent of Injustice Superman, whose eventual fall wasn't only born from his grief over Louise's fate but also from the corruption of unchecked power.

For a moment, Batman questioned his assumptions about Dane's intentions. Could he have been wrong to distrust him?

"The problem with Atlantis is how to stop the war before it starts. I already have some ideas about that," Dane said. "Now, let's move on to the next threat: the Three Demons.

However, the Three Demon was a problem rooted in the magical domain, So," Dane continued, "our primary goal in the coming period should be to recruit more members, especially those with expertise in magic."

He turned to Batman. "Batman, there's a magician named Constantine. He's someone you should approach."

Batman hesitated. "I've got some pressing matters to attend to in Gotham..."

Dane raised an eyebrow. "The criminals in Arkham are practically dealt with. Who's left to handle?"

Batman: ...

"I think Jason would be perfect for handling anything there," Dane added with a faint smirk.

Batman's face darkened. "They're all dead. Of course Gotham is quiet," he muttered under his breath.

Noticing Batman's reluctance, Dane leaned in, his tone adopting a hint of moral authority. "Bruce, compared to the looming threats to the world, Gotham's security is a minor issue."

Faced with such reasoning, Batman sighed, silently agreeing to take on the task.

Jason, standing to the side, couldn't suppress a quiet grin.

"One more thing," Dane added. "To deal with future crises, you'll need to upgrade your Batsuit. The one you're using can't keep up with the intensity of the fights ahead—especially against opponents like us."

Batman recalled the scene of Dane summoning rain with ease. He nod in agreement—his Batplane probably wouldn't even scratch Dane in a fight.

"So," Dane said, "I'm going to grant you access to some of our advanced technology. Pick what you need to upgrade your suit."

With a wave of his hand, Dane uploaded part of Umbrella's database to Batman's system.

Of course, he did so through a device Batman had secretly planted on him earlier.

Under the mask, Batman's face likely turned as dark as the mask itself. But he quietly accepted the data without a word.

At that moment, Barbara Gordon emerged, fully recovered from her surgery.

...

At night, on the stargazing platform atop the Hall of Justice, Dane gazed at the stars.

Blessed with the "Wisdom of Solomon," he had been entrusted with Solomon's Key, a book brimming with ancient knowledge. Among its pages were methods for celestial observation that demanded his attention.

"I really don't understand," a voice interrupted his thoughts. "With your abilities, you could easily gain more power. Why waste time on these thankless tasks?"

Dane turned to see Poison Ivy approaching, her nearly bare figure bathed in moonlight. Was she wearing even fewer leaves than the last time they met?

Noticing his gaze, Poison Ivy straightened her posture, accentuating her curves with deliberate confidence.

Dane smiled faintly. With a subtle motion of divine power, he cleared the air around him, dispelling the abnormal pheromones she had released.

"You know that doesn't work on me," he said.

Poison Ivy's unique hormones could drive men and women into obsessive devotion, but Dane was immune to their effects.

Realizing her trick had failed, Poison Ivy shrugged it off with a teasing smile. "Why not at least give it a try?"

"Are you hinting at something?" Dane asked, raising an eyebrow.

She ignored his question. "What are you going to do with me?"

"I haven't decided yet," Dane admitted. "For now, stay here—and don't cause trouble, especially with Jason."

She laughed softly, a mocking edge to her tone. "You men are all the same. You can't wait to keep women on a leash."

Dane didn't deny it. "If I have the power to do so, why shouldn't I?"

"Hmph. And here I thought you were a superhero," she retorted.

Poison Ivy sauntered closer and sat beside him, her bare feet sliding up his calf with practiced ease.

Dane caught her foot gently and placed it back on the ground.

"I never said I was a hero," he replied. "Being a hero is exhausting."

Poison Ivy shifted her position, continuing her playful teasing. "Then why not join me? Wouldn't it be easier to just be a bad guy?"

This time, Dane didn't stop her. He simply smiled. "If I have the power to make a difference but choose not to, that's not my style."

Poison Ivy tilted her head, intrigued yet unconvinced. She didn't know about Dane's "prophecy" or the complexities he faced. To her, the world seemed far simpler.

"Uninteresting man," she muttered, hopping lightly down the steps.

"I won't be trapped by a boring man like you."

Dane smirked. "You can try, but you won't escape my reach."

She turned back with a sly grin. "We'll see."

Before leaving, she blew a kiss in his direction, releasing a small cloud of plant spores. The spores were harmless but irritated his nasal passages, making him sneeze.

"You can't guard against everything, my dear," she said with a soft laugh.

Dane was about to respond, but Poison Ivy was already walking away, leaving behind the faint scent of roses and the sway of her figure.

"Thorny roses," Dane murmured, shaking his head.

He returned his attention to the telescope, resuming his conversation with the "Wisdom of Solomon."

Even gods, he reminded himself, must learn and grow continually.
