95. Aaron

Year 2220

At six years old, I challenged the world with the keen eye of one who has learned to distrust early. From the shadowy corner of the orphanage, I cautiously observed the new visitors, scrutinizing every gesture and word, wondering shrewdly if they were genuine people or simply looking for a child to satisfy their own ulterior motives.

My eyes, intense and full of distrust, moved deftly among the figures entering the place. I would not allow just anyone to get too close, for experience had taught me that trust was not an easy gift to bestow. I wondered silently if these visitors were different, if they were really looking to adopt from the heart or if they were just passing through, browsing for selfish reasons.
