Duties

>>Sorin

"Well your highness," The work managing committee brought over a load of paperwork and dropped it on my desk in the work study room, "There are a lot of things to go over." The head gave me a professional smile, "We hope you start working on it immediately."

"I see," I looked at the piles of documents and my thumb automatically went between my teeths and I started to chew on it in nervousness, "I'll do it…"

The three people from the accounting and management department then turned and left the room while I stood by the chair in despair.

It's finally here.

The part I'm destined to fail.

Just then, Leroy came into the room with some water, "Sorin…" and as soon as he saw me he sighed, "Your memories may have been affected but-" He walked over to me, "Your bad habits are still there." He grabbed my hand and forced my thumb out of my mouth, "I've told you many times not to chew on your thumb." He placed the water jug on the desk, "But you never listen." I looked at him pleasantly.

Oh?

So Sorin and I share some bad habits huh? Nice, I guess, that makes me less suspicious but still, "Leroy," I pointed at the huge pile of documents, "How am I supposed to go through all this?"

He looked at me with a sigh, "Well you have to start somewhere." He placed his hands on my shoulders and forced me to sit down on the chair behind the desk, "Your memories may be disturbed but I'm sure you'll be able to do this, this is practically all your life after all." He picked up a document and forced it onto my hand. Like really, he forced it in my hand by opening my hand, forcing me to grab the paper and then forcefully closed it while I tried to resist him yet failed in the end, "You were trained for this." He patted my back, "I'm sure it'll come to you as you go."

Beads of sweat started forming on my forehead as I awkwardly laughed, "Haha, yea…"

Well Damn!!!

This is not good!!!

I looked at the page in my hands but I was so nervous I couldn't even make out the words written on it.

I gulped and looked back up at Leroy who was now leaving through the door. He looked back at me before closing the door behind him and smiled, "I'll bring you your lunch later."

"Thanks…" I gave him a dreadly smile back and as the door closed I crashed my head on the desk.

We're doomed.

This whole country is doomed. I don't know shit about running a country!!

I should have majored in accountancy or business or some shit like that but no! I wanted to be a graphic designer!

Graphic Designer my ass! They don't have anything even remotely resembling a computer here!

I bumped my head on the desk again.

Hell!!

I miss photoshop…

I sniffled.

This country is going to hell now anyway… With a king like me, we're all gonna end up in debt.

I sat back up and stared at the paper again. This time I was able to read but whatever I read just went over my head. It didn't even sit there for a moment for me to even try and understand it.

"Oh God…" I whispered and thought about jumping through the window when the door was knocked at.

"Come in!" I answered very enthusiastically just because I wanted someone to disturb me so I would not think about the pile of work in front of me for a mere few seconds.

The door opened and an unexpected person entered the room.

"Leonidas?" I looked at him puzzled, "Yes?"

He stood by the door and cleared his throat but didn't meet my eyes, "I thought I might," He looked very reluctant. He even had a disturbed facial expression on, "Help you." He finally looked at me shyly and it blew my mind.

!!!

I stood up from the chair, slamming my hands on the desk with a gleeful expression on, "Really!!"

He was surprised at my reaction, "Uh- yeah…" He met my gaze shortly and then looked away again.

Yesss!!

This country is saved!! I was so happy I ended up moonwalking a little before realizing Leonidas was looking at me with a gaping mouth and horror filled expressions.

I froze as the air between us became chilly, then cleared my throat and stood up straight.

I then stepped aside, leaving the chair empty and pointed at the seat with both my hands, "Please," I said but Leonidas seemed traumatized for some reason, so I went over to him, grabbed his arm and brought him to the seat, where I sat him down and handed him the document, "All yours brother,"

He slowly turned his head in disgust to look at my shining face, "All mine?"

I gave him a bright smile back and began to slowly retreat towards the door, "Well yes," I said, "You're a shining star." I was nearing the door, "The whole nation trusts you." I maintained my smile, "The whole nobility does too." I reached the door, "And well no one trusts me-" I placed my hand on the handle, "So clearly, you're more suited for this job." I opened the door, "I'll help you out if you need." I stepped outside, "But I know you'll do just fine." I waved at him, "Bye!" I closed the door and ran away.

Hehehehe! Yes!!!

Knowing Leonidas, he would go through all of the documents because it's about the interest of the whole kingdom. He won't abandon them since he's the honorable main character.

Hehehe!

Being a villain isn't so bad.

I took a breath of relief as I leisurely began to make my way towards my room.

AH~ I feel so light!

I don't know what made Leonidas change his mind and come to me but I'm glad he did. Maybe it's because I went to talk to him on the coronation day? I don't see any other reason. Come to think of it, he wasn't meeting my gaze properly but I guess it was because we don't have a great relationship… But I don't think he ever avoided Sorin's eyes in the book. Yea, he chose to ignore him all together but when they talked, which happened barely, he didn't avoid his gaze.

Or did he?

I stopped in the hallway to think.

I wonder though, is Leonidas suspicious of me? Cedric did tell him that he knew Sorin was hiding something but in the original novel no one finds out about Sorin's secret.

One thought led to another and immediately after that I remembered what was going to happen in the future.

Chills ran down my body as I remembered the part and then thanked God that I took action and for Kaan out of the dungeon.

I began walking again.

But, this doesn't mean the crisis is over. To the demons, their leader has been missing for months. We have to come up with some kind of excuse or a plan to make things run smoother…

But what can I do here? Will Kaan cooperate with me?

>>Leonidas

I went through some of the documents and then sighed.

God! There sure are a lot of them.

I shook my head and then wondered why I even came to Sorin but as soon as I did I was reminded of something very embarrassing.

It's all my own fault!

I buried my face in my hands as my face started heating up.

It was too odd that Sorin would come to my room on his own accord and then ask about renewing our relationship! That is something Sorin would never do yet before the coronation day he was there.

But it was too weird and the only conclusion I could come up with was about what my father told me shortly before he died.

He said Sorin was hiding something but he never found out what it was and the moment Sorin left my room that day, father's word kept bugging me. So much so that on the coronation day, I used invisibility magic and snuck into Sorin's room to look for some answers but never in my wildest dreams did I imagine the secret would be exposed to me like that!

I was still there when she came back into the room!
