Clairvoyance

Hearing my direct and upfront words, mother stopped stroking my head and peered into the depths of my eyes.

It seemed like she was looking into my soul, making me a tad bit afraid of her. Her expression was serious, and I felt the majesty of her strength and aura.

However, I stood still, baring my defences, and let my mother scrutinise me. I thought that it would be over in a jiffy, but it didn't.

Still, it didn't take too long before my mother ended her observation as she nodded at me with a warm smile.

"Good, darling~. You still have a firm conviction and unwavering principles. I have been quite satisfied with Anais since the first meeting. Though she acts frivolous, she is a good girl. And you have also never forgotten your sister. So, I am satisfied. You both handled Alice well when she was upset."

I was initially delighted at getting her approval, but she said she had already known everything in the cabin.
