The darkness enveloped the hotel as the power went out, plunging the survivors into an eerie silence. In the dim light, Reggie struggled to pull Mytia away from Catherine, tensions escalating within the group. Meanwhile, Dustin hurried down the stairs, his footsteps echoing in the now silent hallways.
As Dustin aimed his pistol at Hayley, who emerged from the shadows, a sense of urgency filled the air. The once familiar face now wore an unsettling expression, a stark contrast to the person they had known before.
Hayley giggles mischievously as she positions herself behind him. He quickly turns to shoot, but Hayley takes a swift step to the side, avoiding the gunfire. In a tragic turn, Mytia appears behind where Hayley was standing and becomes the unintended target. A gunshot rings out, hitting Mytia in the throat.
Mytia crumples into Catherine's arms, clutching her throat, and Catherine, trying to reassure her, kisses Mytia's forehead and softly utters, "You will be fine, I've got you." With a sense of urgency, Catherine slowly injects Mytia in the thigh with a needle, hoping to administer some form of aid.
Meanwhile, Neil takes decisive action, tackling Hayley and both of them crashing out of the window. The group, filled with a collective sense of unease, shudders as they hear Hayley's screams. Their attention is then drawn to the window through which Neil and Hayley disappeared, witnessing an extraordinary sight—the emergence of plants growing through the opening.
In a moment of regret, Dustin drops his gun, pleading with Catherine, "I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to." Catherine, however, responds with an unsettling laugh as her friend's body grows cold. Approaching him, she picks up Dustin's gun, and with a sudden and cold demeanor, she grabs the back of his hair, yanking his head back. "I never liked you anyway," she declares before shooting his brains out.
Simon, witnessing the brutal act, voices his disapproval, stating, "He didn't deserve that." Ignoring his comment, Catherine drags Simon out of the building by his shirt. Waiting outside is a man, half-covered in plants, who salutes Catherine before covering the entire building with vegetation.
Catherine records her voice on a recorder, stating, "35 days since the outbreak," and sadly acknowledges Mytia's passing, but adds cryptically, "but not for long."
As fog spills out of the building, Simon catches a glimpse of Mytia, Kimora, and his younger sister waving at him. Overwhelmed by emotion, he exclaims, "Lex!" and attempts to pull away from Catherine. However, Catherine tightens her grip, preventing his escape. Bowing her head, Catherine solemnly declares, "They aren't real."
In a moment of shared sorrow, Catherine looks back, only to see her grandmother. Tears welling up in her eyes, Catherine implores,
"Trust me."
