Chapter 135: Arion

Rumble

Thunderclouds rumbled in the air as lightning flashed in the sky. People were not fazed by the unnatural state of the cloud.

They have come to get used to this like it was a normal day.

Ever since the world was on the brink of destruction from the collision of the meteorite.

Several appearances like this became normal to the world.

After more than hundreds of years passed by, several mysterious and dangerous changes appeared in the world.

One was this place that was filled with thunder and lightning all the time around, but it would never rain.

In this area there was a village filled with people, who were working like usual. Even though these people lived in this dangerous environment it was not out of choice it was because the lightning would never descend and keep roaring in the air.

This sound of the lightning keeps the mindless beasts out of the place because of fear.

This place was more secure and safer than any other.

Boom

But it was not that lightning would never descend, just like now lightning would fall once in a while at random.

If someone was very unlucky, they would be struck by lightning. And this occasion only happens once a month. So people chose to take risks and live in this place.

As the lightning landed, it struck an unlucky husband who was walking back home along with his family.

He dropped dead to the ground while his wife could only watch with a stunned look on her face.

She looked at the dead body in a trance while holding the arm of her young teenage son. The son also looked at the dead body of the father with a stunned look on his face; his hands were tightly holding the hem of his mother's robes.

It did not take long before they came out of the shock, and their expression morphed into that of a… feral grin!!!

The woman kicked her husband, followed by the kick, before they continued walking. The boy's hand, which was holding his mother's clothes, moved towards her hips, kneading them tightly.

His actions did cause a lustful look to appear on the woman's face. The people walking by did not even cast a second look at the scene and left after shaking their heads.

Such was the case with a small, black-haired boy who also looked at the scene with emotionless eyes.

But there was a hint of confusion in his eyes, as if he was trying to comprehend what was happening.

He just shook his head and ran back to his home, remembering that it was his 10th birthday today.

Arion opened the door of his home calmly, not wanting to make his parents beat him again.

His eyes seemed to have lost their light as he entered his 'home.'.

He felt that there was something wrong with the atmosphere. As soon as he entered, his eyes landed on the man sitting in front of his parents.

Their profiles were facing him, so he could clearly see the greedy expression on their faces as they looked at the bag filled with some heavy things placed on the makeshift table in front of them.

Since they were poor, they had to make things on their own to make the house a little presentable.

"This should be enough for the trade, I presume?"

The man sitting across from them was covered in a cloak so Arion could not see his face, but his chilling tone sent a shiver down his spine.

Thud

He trembled and took a step back only for his feet to collide against a piece of wood placed on the ground.

The sound attracted the attention of the people inside the room. They all looked at the small boy looking at him with a plain look on their faces.

"Arion, it's good that you are here."

The father rushed to block the back of the boy so that he could not run away. The person, after all, paid so much money just for him.

Arion was forced to mature, with the way he lived his life. The circumstances caused him to grow up faster than his peers.

There was a hint of coldness in his eyes as he seemingly understood what was happening, but how could he, a mere powerless child, get out of the encirclement of the adults?

"You are the boy, huh!" The cold voice of the cloaked man caused his scalp to go numb.

Arion looked as the man removed his cloak. His old face was covered in a half-metallic mask, which held a fake eye in its place.

Arion did not seem to be fazed by the pulsing veins around his mask and glared directly at his face with a sharp look.

"You will be coming with me starting today, boy!"

The scary old man walked up to Arion and grabbed him by his collar.

Arion resisted with all his might, but his father slammed his face into the wall, causing a hole to appear in it because of the fragile wooden structure.

"Gave up, boy! He has already paid for you; just be a good boy and go with him." His father spoke in a cold voice before approaching his mother, who was counting money with a star in her eyes.

Shatter

She did not even once look in his direction; at that time, Arion felt like something had died inside of him….

He felt broken!
