frist snow fall

The day is calm, I listen to the sounds off in the forest as I look for somthing for breakfast, then my eyes come upon a rabbit. The rabbit is a bit on the small side but he shall do, I ready the rifle for the shot.

However, I spot something out of the corner of my eye, I turn to look to see my grandfather standing there behind a tree. "ignore me for now, and take the shot I'm hungry too." He says in a low hushed voice, I smile a bit and reposition the shot to it's head.

Then with out a second though pull the trigger, I observed the rabbit after a second no longer move, and fall to the side as if he had died suddenly.

When I stand I Hear my grandfather claping, "hahaha, boy that was a shot, I have taught you well my grandson." The smile on his face is practically ear to ear, as I can tell he is deeply proud of everything he has taught me over the course of five years.

When we finally reach the rabbit, or at least the area where it should have been, we both only see a pool of blood. "well, looks like a corpses ran away on us, hahaha." grandfather is laughing but I notice the tracks of a wolf through the brush that had run up to it, then had bolted off with it back in the same direction it came from.

"hey relax, no worries let's go to town to get some breakfast alright you've been out here since before sun up, no need to stress, now let's go."

The though of turning around didn't set well with me but I had no choice, breakfast was stolen by a damn wolf and all that was left was the blood, and tracks of the thief. "fine gramps, but your paying for the breakfast since it was your idea," he quickly smiles and laughs a little at what I had said.

"what do you take me for, a leech, no problem I got the bill, but your paying for the next one since I know you have that job as a book store manager."

When he mentions that part I remembered that I had a shift to pick up today, " hey gramps, I gotta head back to the house quick to change into more normal clothes, I remembered my shift today." his eyes Pearce through me like daggers, however he knows I'm not lying to him. "fine but remember breakfast first then work," I nod in agreement then quickly run to change clothes.

After I finished changing I make it back to the vehicle, then once I jump in gramps take one look at me, and puts on his smug face of an expression. "why you looking like a professional all of a sudden, got someone to impress, it wouldn't be that young lass that is always asking you for help on finding new books."

The fact that he say through me so quickly was embarrassing, however staying silent would just make it more obvious, so I tried to make something up on the spot, "listen gramps I'm the manager of that book store, as manager I have to look my absolute best." When I look back at him in the driver seat he's looking dead at me, until he can't handle it anymore, and begins to laugh like a lunatic.

"That has to be the worst excuse to look like you going on a date, hahahaha, oh man your going to make me die of laughter one of these days." That is when I place my head against the back of my seat, and plug my ear, to stop listening to his historical laughter.

The way to town is nice, lots of trees and open fields, however I look up to see clouds forming in the sky. These clouds are a fluffy gray, "hey gramps after my shift I'm stopping somewhere alright." his laughing goes silent, I look over to see his face go from a smile to nothing. "as you wish, I can't stop you." I thank him for taking care of me but I know it hurts him to know where I'm going after my job, he just wishes for me to not let it consume me, like it at one point did to him.

Once we arrive into town we decided to go to Mama's Diner, one of the better diner's around, along with the best breakfast menu. when we get in we are greeted by the owner herself. " you two welcome it's been a little bit, a seat for two, and I take it your usual breakfast orders." we both nod in agreement to what she had said, once we're seated we take a look at the news paper.

-news this week-

The Empire of Arduel's president is no longer on friendly terms with the leader of The people's republic of Labronsk, as rumors of possible war now spread on both side's. Also this week a factory in the city of Crim exploded, the head of the factory says a fire started on the factory line after a malfunction with one of the tools caused the fire. however some of the works there suspect fowl play had a hand in the fire starting.

The news had a lot on it, but I ended up stopping because the food had arrived. The thought of war started to float into my head, however I push those thoughts to the side since I know I have to help look after not just my grandfather, but also the book store now too.

when I notice my meal is slightly off I decide to ask about it, " miss Abby, the potato part is missing is the order later this week." she sighs a bit, but answers my question, " no young man I'm sorry to say but potatoes are currently in high demand by the military right now, along with a bunch of other things, I find it lucky I was able to actually make your meal even if it wasn't all there, so don't be picky and eat it." with all that in mind I thank her for the food, luckily the tast is still very good even without the potato shredding at the bottom of it.

The meal was good, I had it finished in no time flat, however gramps was still taking his time with his. When he looks over to me he smiles a little, "it was nice to be young I could also have my plate clean in a matter of minutes just like you, but now..." He ends up sighing a bit before looking back at me.

"you can get on to work, I'm not here to keep you hostage while I eat, go before you miss the girl." The clock on the wall of Mama's Diner had just struck ten, quickly without a second though I bolted up out of my chair, thanking grandfather for letting me leave early.

After I thank him I head for the door, "hey remember to relax, and speak like man, she'll like it." The door had fully closed behind me, however I couldn't exactly think straight anymore after hearing that, but luckily I managed to finally start thinking again once I had fully made it to my job.

once I walked in I was warmly greeted by the only other two staff members on today, " hey Daniel it's great of you to pick up a shift man, you saved our lives," he is Mark a bit older then me, around nineteen, other then being completely engrossed into fitness work off shift, he is a very good motivator, he's also quite sometimes when he reads a book.

"Hey Daniel, thanks for the help we appreciate it a lot, you know you didn't have to, but your cool like that so thanks." This young lady is Rebekah, she is quiet, along with being shy towards those who she has a hard time talking with. The only thing that gets her talking to you is books, and what type of stories you read, essentially she absolutely loves books.

When I see them both happy I know I'm gonna have a good day, so I finally punch in to shift and get to work.

The whole shift goes fairly smooth, honestly nothing to complain about, once it's finally close to end shift Rebekah walks up to me, "thanks again for coming in to help, I really mean it." The thanks from her are always the best ones, "no problem you know I would gladly come to help."

The though of asking jumps into my head, however I push it aside trying not to think about it right now, "so Daniel if your willing would you like to have lunch sometime next week, so that way we can talk about um uh books, and uh." The expression on her face is that of embarrassment, along with the way she said it I can't refuse.

"sure we can have lunch next week, I don't mind at all," it didn't register in my brain until I had agreed to what was essentially a lunch date. "that's great so I have off on Tuesday that week, so I'll see you then." The moment she was done talking she quickly made her way out the door, while I was standing there with my face red from the idea of asking the ultimate question.

After that whole ordeal I had finished up all the days paper work, then I punched myself out. However before I left I took a look at the time, it was already later in the afternoon, once I make my way outside, I put the sign to closed.

The walk to where I was going to next was going to be a long one, then without know I feel something cold hit me on the face. Without needing to think, I just look up to see the frist snow fall of this year, coming down slowly and gently, as if it's dancing it's way to the ground.

"sigh well looks like I gotta get to the shop a bit quicker this time around, I hope they still have some flowers left." usually by this time of year the flowers are withering, however one shop sells some winter flowers around this time, that's good for me since it mean's I get to visit someone important, and not empty handed either, since I feel it would be rude of me not to do so since, after all the one I'm giving them to, she deserves them.
