Young Edward

Demyan

I stared at my reflection in the mirror for a very long time as I held a trimmer in my hands. Bunbun was busy bouncing around on the vanity countertop as she figured out how to open the tap and reached out as if she could catch the water then would shriek. I had gotten so used to her antics by then that I was numb to it.

My cheek was blue, my eyes puffy and bloodshot. My skin luckily did not look so drastically pale because I had been taking Bunbun outside and spent some time in the greenhouse to take care of Pa's vegetables and flowers. I knew he had garden workers to check up on it everyday but it was a sort of therapy at a point.

I had waxed the leaves in the sunroom so much that when they started to show my reflection I knew it was time to call it quits. At a point I had run out of things to do and now I started to turn to my appearance. I needed to clean up. A fresh start and for me my hair was my new obsession.
