Hindsight

Ever since he came back, the prison has been turned upside down. The survivors went into a frenzy to try and find Mario, the burly man. While he knows it is a waste of effort, he can't afford not to help them since he was the last one with the man; he is the one who knows the most about his whereabouts.

Even if those whereabouts are death. If he turned them down, suspicion would inevitably fall on his shoulders, more than what is expected when you were the last person who was seen with one who vanished to God knows where.

Unexpectedly, his partners in crime hadn't tried to close the distance nor tried to interrogate him, relegating this duty to the priest. Didn't they think the bur— Mario wouldn't spill the beans about their plans and workings? Or they couldn't fathom the betrayal of the man?
