CHAPTER EIGHT

He got into his car and stared at the extra key to his dad office that he stole during their arguments.He let out a sigh and rested his head on the head rest, that man might have been a jerk who caused his mother's death and hurt the woman he loves but he was still his father after all.Now that he is involved in Katherine's parent death, he doesn't know what to do, his dad might actually end up in jail.He looked at the key in his hand again and let out another sigh and drove off.

The continuous knocking on her door, woke up her up. She came down from the bed and went to the entrance, she opened the door to see Mrs Albert standing at the entrance with a bag in her hand."were you sleeping?"Mrs Albert asked and entered the house

"hmm" she said and shut the door

"how have you been?"

"good"

"well you don't look so, you've loosed a lot of weight, come here, have your seat, I brought some side dishes for you" she said and dropped the bag she was carrying on the dining table, she brought out three coolers filled with food and arranged them on the table.

" how have you been?" Katherine asked and sat on the dining chair"

"good, am always good"she replied, portioning the foods in a dish

"that's good to hear, you are a happy woman after all"

"what made you say that?"

"your two daughters are married and you have grand children too, your joy is full"

"you are wrong" she said and stopped what she was doing, "my first child isn't married, in fact she isn't happy, so my joy isn't full yet"

"am I that first daughter?"

"of course " she said and placed the side dishes she portioned infront of Katherine who picked up a spoon and began to dig into it"

"this tastes nice" she said with a mouthful of food

"really, eat up, you've loosed weight, am sure you haven't been eating well"

"I don't have time for food" she said, munching on a piece of meat

"how long are you going to continue this Katherine, when is all this going to stop" she said and took her seat beside her on the dinning chair

" very soon" she said

"how soon?"

"I said very soon" she said and gulped down a glass of water

"I wish for you to stop what you are doing, find yourself a man and settle down, I wish for you to be happy Katherine, I don't like the way you are living now, I feel like I have failed your parents"

"I have sacrificed a lot, I have come too far to stop now"

"that's why you should have stopped since, that's why you shouldn't have started all this"

"let's not talk about this now, can we talk about something else?"

"Katherine what happens after you get all your inheritance back, what happens then? Mrs Albert asked and Katherine stopped eating and looked at her and said," someone is waiting for me"

"who?"

"someone" she said and smiled

"hey Katherine do you have a man?" She asked and laughed

"no I don't?"

"who is waiting for you then, hey, you have a man" she said again and they both laughed "aren't you going to tell me?"

"aish, why are you insisting, it's Michael" she whispered and went back to her food

"what,Michael Salvatore, that handsome lawyer"

"Hmm"

"really"

"why are you being so dramatic?"

"sorry, It's just that am really surprised, you know…

"what is it with that look, are you against the idea, don't you like him?" she asked

"No" she hastily said and waved her hand,"it's just that I am happy, you really don't know how happy I am right now Katherine and I approve of him,he has always been so good to you, my baby, come here" she said and embraced her and Katherine embraced her back. "I will keep on praying to God and ask him to give you victory in this journey of yours and that he should give you overflowing joy,all I want and wish for is for you to be happy" she said and sniffed back the tears that had welled up in her eyes."my baby" she said, patting her back lightly.

"thank you for everything " Katherine said and released herself from her embrace," I am really thankful"

"aish" Mrs Albert said and cupped her cheeks,"haven't I told you to stop saying that.Eat up,I need to take my leave now"

"why are you in a hurry to leave?"

"because I leave far away ma'am"she said and stood from the chair."I came to do something here and decided to branch here before going and I wanted to give you some side dishes too. I kept some for you in the fridge,you just need to heat them up when you want to eat it"

"alright"

"make sure to eat them, look at you, you've loosed so much weight, don't neglect your health too"

"Alright ma'am, I will eat them" she said and they both smiled. Mrs Albert picked up her handbag and made to leave, Katherine followed her to the entrance and helped her open the door. She bayed her goodbye and watched her leave. She shut the door and sat heavily on the couch and then, her phone rang, she looked at the screen to see who the caller is and her heart skipped a beat when she saw the name that popped on the screen, it was Roy Kimberly, she wondered what the old hag wanted and what reason he could possibly have to call her. She cleared her throat and answered the call. "Good evening sir"she said

"come to the mansion tonight by 8, you will be in trouble if you make us wait" he commanded

"yes sir" she said

"Good" he said and dropped the call and Katherine could hear her heart beating in her chest, what was going on, she thought to herself and a notification popped up on her phone, she looked at it and saw an headline that states," singer Jemma charges second son of the chairman of Johnwell for assault" she read the notification and scoffed, it seems like young master Walter has gotten himself into another trouble, now she knows the reason for the summon, the old man wants her to clean after his son's mess, of course that is what he makes her do and yet they don't treat her well. She sighed and went to the bedroom.Her victory is close now, very soon, that old man and his household will beg her for mercy.
