"Your wife?" Mignon repeated feigning confusion with her eyes on the woman on the bed, who had not bothered to look up at her.

"She was a show anchor and that's what your mother is watching. I'll introduce you two," he said. Nearing his mother's bed, he cleared his throat before speaking, "Mignon's here, Mum."

Raine cast a quick glance up at Ethan before returning her gaze back to the phone in her hand, failing to notice there was someone else in the room.

"You don't joke about things like that, Ethan," she whispered.

"I thought I never joked. Mum, Mignon is here," he repeated. Waiting only until Raine raised her head and spotted Mignon at the entrance of the room, Ethan walked away from them. "I'll leave you two alone."
