After that suicide attempt when he was six months old, Gray did not give up.
As he grew older, he tried again and again to kill himself. All in different manners. Each more inspiring than the last.
From as little as slitting his own throat to free diving into the mouth of a crocodile
However, no matter what he did, he just could not die.
And so, he came up with another plan.
This time around, the idea was to die and stay dead long enough.
To achieve this, his plan was to drown.
And the abandoned village well was his target.
He jumped into the well without hesitation.
However, even after drowning, he came back to life.
It was after this event that he stopped trying to kill himself.
After all, even though he was immortal, that did not mean that he did not feel the pain of it.
Even when he was ripped apart by a crocodile, it was nothing like drowning.
It was an experience that was as excruciating to feel as one could imagine.
The water would fill his lungs, fighting against the instinctive will of his nature to survive.
He would open his mouth to vomit the water, but more would just pour in.
The mere unwilling expansion of his lungs alone came with a forthright willingness to hate breathing.
He felt like his insides were bursting as a result of the pressure again and again.
And when he finally let loose and died, he would quickly come back to life, only to relieve the experience.
As the well was mostly abandoned, he was not found until a week later.
This was an entire week of dying and coming back to life again and again.
It was this torture that made him finally end his attempt on his life.
And so, after lots of time contemplating his fate, he arrived at a new goal, and that was the total eradication of this Werewolf pack and any other supernatural community that had escaped his hunt in his former life.
He was going to make the Vampire god regret her decision to make him live this life of torture.
Since he was now a supernatural creature, he was going to use this opportunity to kill them all.
However, there was just one problem.
As a human, he cultivated the power of the soul. But this was different for supernatural creatures.
These unnatural beings cultivated their bloodline abilities.
This was what made them grow in strength.
He tried many times, again and again, going through thousands of soul cultivation techniques.
But it was of no use. He couldn't even find his soul in this body. Cultivating it was a different matter all together.
After some time, he also gave up on this.
However, he was still far from losing hope.
A man like him, who had gone through the viscosities of lava and brimstone, pain, and death, had an incredible and unbreakable mindset.
Nothing was going to sway him from the justice he desired.
Although he lost the ability to cultivate his soul power, he still retained his fierce fighting skills.
He opted for yet another plan.
And that was to use their own power against them.
Yes, he was going to slaughter them with his bloodline ability.
Unfortunately, bloodline abilities did not start awakening until the age of six.
If by that time it did not awaken, then it would be forced unlocked once the age of twelve was reached.
It was as if the goddess of bad luck was following him. At age six, he did not unlock his bloodline ability.
While many of his mates unlocked theirs, he unfortunately did not get his own.
All the way until he was 12.
However, his mother and father were not all that worried. After all, there were always late bloomers in every scenario.
In fact, his father was also a late bloomer, and he still ended up becoming so strong that he even became Alpha.
A trait that ran in their family bloodline for many generations.
Gray was finally twelve, and the day of the ceremony had finally arrived.
There was nobody in the world who was more thrilled about this day than he was.
This was the day that he was going to get the power to bury them all.
This ceremony was called the Forced Awakening.
As it was a very sacred ceremony, it was not performed at the village but deep within the forest, beside the majestic waterfall of the Mirror valley.
As the name implied, this was a deep valley in the forest area.
It was called the Mirror valley because the walls of either side were so smooth that one could see their reflection off it.
Legend has it that this was done by a high-level werewolf with an incredibly pure and ancient bloodline ability some hundreds of years ago.
The older Weres, including Chief Ironclaw, Gray's father, swore that one could get further enlightenment on the way of the Bloodline by studying the smooth walls.
On this place resided an ancient temple, and that was where the ceremony would be conducted.
Gray dressed up in his robes and prepared himself for the day's occasion.
Amidst the noise of his twin younger siblings, Duster and Cherry fighting for a wooden doll with their teeth. He still tried to maintain a calm and collected mind.
Soon, he would have the ability to end all their annoyances with no problems.
Those were words he told himself continually.
It was just quite unfortunate that for the six years they had been born after him, he shared a room with them.
According to his father, he was supposed to become a role model for them to follow, just like he had once shared a room with his two older siblings.
An obvious excuse for lack of space and the poverty that the pack enjoyed, and he was very aware of that.
The noise was getting too much, and the two were starting to growl at one another like the animals he thought they were.
He turned to them, "Duster, Cherry, what did I say about sharing?"
Seeing that they had gotten their older brother's attention, the twins immediately stopped their growling and arguments.
They looked at one another and then at him before answering together.
"Unless the other person is dead, sharing brings peace."
"Good!" Gray turned to Duster, "I remember you had the toy yesterday. You are a big brother; learn to be fair to your little sister. Let her have it for the rest of the day!"
Duster was unwilling to let go of the toy, a wooden donkey Gray had carved out in his spare time. But he did.
Gray nodded at both of them. Even reincarnation had not diminished his ability to instill discipline.
"Now, come! It is a big day for your big brother." He had a smile on his face as he stepped out of the room, and they followed.
From the village to the Mirror valley was far. However, this was a werewolf pack, and everybody was going to run there.
~Wush~Wush~
Gray's elder brother ran past him. His speed was incredible, and even though he was in his human form like all the others, he ran on all fours.
"Come on little bro. You are lacking behind the pack. You need to ditch your two legs and run like real Weres do." Dan smacked Gray on the back as he ran past him.
An action that nearly made Gray roll over his head.
For reasons himself could not understand, Gray was shorter and much skinny than most boys his age in the Were community.
In fact, they were many that still doubted if he was already twelve.
After his elder brother Dan, came his elder sister Rose.
Both the elder and younger siblings of Gray were twins. He was the only one who had not come out in a pair.
Next was his older sister. She ran past him as she pounced off a tree, rushing into the distance. She turned and gave him an affectionate glance and a wink before leaving him behind.
One by one, other members of the pack also passed and left.
Most of whom turned to him and shook their heads.
After all, everyone was running on fours. Even Gray's younger siblings.
Everyone, except, of course, Gray.
And as many of the younger boys passed, they mocked him; some of them even threw dirt from under their feet in his face as they sped off laughing.
They were three Were-boys who were especially terrible.
They threw rotten eggs at his face. "Loser!"
They entertained themselves with the look of his misery as they rushed out of sight...
