As Gray sifted through the documents, his eyes widening with each new revelation, the pieces of a complex puzzle began falling into place. Chief Tobi's cryptic mention of crossing stormy seas to pursue Vatu took on a new meaning. Vatu, it seemed, was far more influential and connected than anyone had realized. The documents before Gray were proof of this — signed agreements and pacts with various tribes, some of which Gray had thought long extinct.

It had been two hundred years since Gray last walked the earth, and in that time, humanity had ascended to dominance, casting down millions of supernatural beings. It was a war that Gray himself had influenced, a conflict that had earned him the title of the human messiah.
