Not Willing to stay

Mirabelle didn't sleep all night, she found herself constantly turning from the embarrassing memory of what could have happened with her patient...

Her patient.

A blush fills her cheeks as she fixes her hair whilst making her way down the flight of stairs. She's just glad that today she doesn't have to act as someone else and create more complicated situations for herself.

Serena is back and she says the car pull up from her window this morning.

Finally.

Bringing her hands up to her face, she tries to fix her eyebrows only to pause when she notices she hasn't sprayed her perfume on.

Mirabelle always has perfume on.

She turns to run up the stairs but stops when she hears furious heels banging against the tiled floor, emerging into view where she finally sets her eyes on Serena after a painfully long time.

"Serena... Please." The assistant runs after her as Serena makes it to the door. She grabs Serena's wrist to stop her but Serena furiously snatches her hand away.

"Please what!?" She hisses as she fixes her long straight hair over her shoulders.

No doubt Serena is the beauty Derek has been chasing, and Mirabelle could understand why he is head over heels for her.

Her hair is a stunning platinum blonde with white highlights that looks like she's just been at the salon this morning.

Mirabelle presses her lips as she looks down at her outfit, a bit surprised to see how preppy she actually is, from her pink fluffy cost down to her white pearl clutch, the short white dress that grips her body well and her soft pink heels.

She looks like a barbie doll of she could describe her with a few words.

"He still can't see!?" She hisses as she frowns at the assistant who sighs at her. "You said his surgery was yesterday."

"I know, Serena, but he had some complications, he'll have another operation soon."

"That's no seeing! He's had multiple surgeries and nothing. You think he'll ever see? Huh? He's blind for good." She sighs in frustration. "I've waited and I'm done. I'm done! I don't want to marry him anymore, you deal with it yourself."

She hisses and storms out of the house, leaving the assistant defeated as she watches her only hope leave the house.

"Is she serious?" Mirabelle asks as she descends the stairs slowly. "Is she really leaving?"

The assistant looks up at Mirabelle and sighs, reaching her hand up to her forehead as she feels the strain of it all slowly building up.

How can she even begin to explain this mess to Derek?

"Go... Go get her!" Mirabelle says in a panic as she rushes towards the assistant. "You... you can't let her leave..."

The assistant sighs shakily and nods before walking off and out of the house, unsure of how she can even convince Serena to stay.

Mirabelle watches from the door as the assistant rushes for Serena who's made it to her car right at the gate.

Why she parked so far, Mirabelle wouldn't know.

"Morning." Mirabelle feels a shiver run up her spine when she feels masculine arms wrap around her waist before her body is pulled back into the masculine frame of Derek.

"D-Derek..." Mirabelle chuckles awkwardly and quickly glances towards Serena and the assistant who are too far to know what's going on. "M-morning..."

He chuckles and tightens his hold around her, trying to bring her as close to him as possible.

"You ran off last night... I thought we were getting to the good part." He chuckles as he buries his nose into her neck, getting a shiver to run up her spine.

"I... I was so busy and got too tired." She clears her throat and quickly unwraps herself from him. "A-anyway, have you had breakfast?"

"Not yet." He smiles as he takes her hands in his. "I hope you haven't had yours."

"Oh no, I'm... I'm so busy I need to rush for work." Mirabelle chuckles uncomfortably. "I'll call the nurse and–."

"It's the weekend." He chuckles, pulling her to him and embracing her in his arms. "Wouldn't you care to spend the weekend with your fiancee? There's no need to work on weekends."

Mirabelle blushes at this and leans back from his embrace.

"I... I can't... The nurse will–."

"–I really don't want to be stuck with her today." He frowns and traces his fingers up to her cheek. "Please stay with me today. I'll do most of the things on my own... I won't be a burden, I promise..."

The way he says it makes her pity him... The tone in his voice is soft and pleading... Begging her to just stay with him.

But she can't.

Not when Serena is cutting the wedding off. She simply can't continue like this.

"I–."

"–She's more than happy to stay. Her schedule has just been freed up." The assistant says suddenly, getting Mirabelle to glance at her in shock and slight hope, thinking she came back with the real Serena.

Yet Serena is no where in sight.

"What?" Mirabelle asks as she sends the assistant a look to which she shrugs to.

"I sent Mirabelle off to the hospital where she is needed, so she won't be here for the weekend." The assistant add and Mirabelle gasps in shock at her, but Derek only smiles and nods.

"Good... That means I'll have more time with Serena." Derek says as he reaches for her hand and kisses her knuckles. "I love the idea."

"Of course." The assistant smiles and looks over at Mirabelle, willing to explain herself later. "Serena just woke up and so have you, why don't we have breakfast?"

Derek nods and lets Mirabelle go entirely as the assistant walks to his side to help guide him into the dining room, but he holds his hand up and stops her from touching him.

"I'll walk by myself. It's my house after all, I know where everything is." He says as he moves from the spot, taking calculated steps as he tries to map out the entire house through memory.

The assistant and Mirabelle watch as he seems to get it right, only to hit into a stool as he makes his way into the dining room.

"Don't worry... I'm not hurt... No one help me." Derek states and starts to feel what is in front of him as he continues on.

"Explain yourself." Mirabelle hisses at the assistant who sighs. "You can't expect me to act again!"

"Calm down, Mirabelle..." The assistant sighs and rubs her temple. "I couldn't do otherwise... Ms. Serena has canceled the wedding entirely... She wants no part of Derek."

"So why am I still acting as her?" Mirabelle sighs as she looks around, feeling frustrated. "I'm not marrying him."

"You won't... Just be by his side until he goes through surgery. Any bad need can demotivate him and he's very sensitive when it comes to Serena. After all, she's the reason he wants to see." The assistant says s she stands in front of Mirabelle, pleading with her. "I understand it's wrong to deceive him and you're scared. But you as Serena will break up with him after surgery. You won't need to see him, I'll rely the news. Just please... For the sake of his health... Be Serena."

"What... What about Mirabelle?" Mirabelle asks as she looks over at the dinning room where she watches him feel around the table, trying to memorize the new sitting arrangements without the aid of his guiding stick. "I could slip up and -."

"Mirabelle will appear on certain days. I'll explain that you're only there when needed so that you're Serena most of the time.... Serena rarely works since most of her work is done by her agent. If we say you're busy and need to work, he'll know something is up. So be Serena most of the time."

As the assistant explains this, Mirabelle finds herself at the tip of the iceberg, knowing full well she's about to bury herself once something goes wrong.

"Please... No amount of money can convince anyone to do this... But for the sake of his will to go through surgery... Please..." She begs and Mirabelle clenches her jaw. "I'll still pay you for the service. I promise on that."

"Fine." She sighs. "But protect me with your life if he finds out."

"I will." She smiles in relief and gestures for them to walk to Derek who has finally settled down.

"This... Is a bad idea." Mirabelle murmurs under her breath.
