Chapter-12; Lorvil

At night while I was having dinner with everyone, the attacker that we captured finally regained consciousness. Tyrell and I were informed and we right away went to interrogate him.

"What is your purpose? Who sent you? Are there any other people left who will attack Lorvil?" Tyrell shouted.

"What are you talking about? I don't know anything! I am from Lorvil myself, where are my parents? Where am I? Why am I even tied?" The young guy pleaded as if he really didn't know anything.

"If you remember anything, it will be better if you tell me. You know blue flames are the hottest right?" My voice dropped dangerously low, threatening him but he bursted out crying and pleaded us to let him go as he didn't know a thing.

"He really doesn't know. Could it be...?." I whispered.

"Yes, dark magic" Tyrell replied with creases visible on his forehead.

Albagard had more dark attribute users than any other nation. Not only that but the spells that were deemed forbidden are still used there while other countries barely have any records left of those. I have to find out about them, maybe there's something that could help me go back to my world.

"Please tell me you're not thinking of anything dangerous" Tyrell who was visibly worried, seeked for my answer while looking at me with so much care.

I looked away and replied "l am not, you don't have to worry" he suddenly wrapped my face with his hands.

"Look at me. You won't be able to lie this way" he said with his eyes fixated on mine. My face got red and I closed my eyes since he won't let me look away.

He lets go of my face and says "fine, if you're uncomfortable, I respect that. But do let me know when you're comfortable and before you do something yourself."

Gosh! Why would he do that all of a sudden! And why... am I thinking of Aleridge? He was like that too. Am I wishing he was here right now?

Tyrell ordered for the young kid to be escorted home and ordered two crowns to keep an eye on him. The Crown is basically like the king's secrect agents, their identities unknown, all extensively trained. Esmeray once used to be a part of it as well. She had successfully assassinated countless on just one order. That side of her life was behind the veil. I suppose the writer had plans for it for a sequel?

Next day, we reached Lorvil before noon. As I finally got off the carriage to be able to stand on the land and breathe, my legs were so stiff! Tyrell extended his hand towards me to help me get down.

The garden looked beautiful, the flowers looked fresh and filled the air with their sweet aroma. We could hear cattles and horses at a distance. The environment was lively.

The mansion was bustling with workers and maids as there was some construction going on. I saw workers using earth attribute for construction. That made sense, every job in this world also required you to have a specific attribute, like earth attribute for construction. Must be efficient.

A butler came and greeted us. "I hope you had a pleasant journey. The duke shall see you at supper. We will escort you to your room so you can freshen up and rest. Please let us know if you need anything"

"Aw! Ray, you couldn't live without me even for few weeks?" Only one person could say that. Kaldor! He left the capital 2 weeks ago, he only came to the capital to report to the king about the festival's preparations.

Tyrell quickly stood in front of me with a grim smile. Seeing him, Kaldor backed off real quick. "Oh! The crown prince is here too? My greetings, how are you doing, Prince?" He said while bowing. That was a quick adaptation! "You were quick to notice special captain but not me? You can atleast try to hide your interests" was he pissed?

"Moving on" he took a pause and continued "we don't have time and we need to see duke Lennox immediately. There can be a war" Seriously? That was the worst way to put it! But we can use all the time I guess.

We didn't rest and proceeded to explain everything to Kaldor. We also explained about the ambush they had prepared for reinforcements. "What about the unit you dealt with? Won't they be suspicious" Kaldor questioned. "We did what we could already. Let's hope it works" Tyrell replied.

"We have to do everything quietly or they will change their plans. You get what I mean?" I said. He nodded and went for preparations right away. I turned and noticed Tyrell who was deep in thought.

"What is it?" I asked while taking a sip of lemon tea. "Oh.. it's nothing. You should go rest. I will see the duke and inform him about everything."

"But what about you? When will you rest?" I was worried about him, genuinely.

"l am fine Esmeray, thank you for worrying. I will rest after talking to the duke" he smiled, which didn't really help as I could see he was worried.

I went to my room and decided how I will be preparing for the battle. Earth attribute allows us to even make thing. Larger things require more mana but are easier to make. Small things require little mana but precision and concentration. If I succeed, I will have an ace up my sleeves! I also decided to learn more about herbs, there are many that I didn't know of.

I didn't realize when I dozed off while planning everything. By the time I woke up, it was evening. Was I that tired from four days of continuous travel?

I heard a knock on my door, "come in" I said. A maid brought me bathwater and asked if I'd have dinner in my room. It will be quite rude if I even miss the dinner right? "Oh! No, I shall have it with everyone" she smiled and left.

I was so happy to finally wash myself clean. Keeping those beautiful gowns wasn't a mistake.I dressed up in a beautiful yellow gown and a maid helped me tie my hair up.

On reaching the dining hall, my heart started pouncing. I was doubting if my table manners and etiquettes would embarrass me.

Taking a deep breath I walked in. The dining hall was bustling with people. I wasn't expecting that! I thought this would be more private. As I tried to calm my anxious heart. Then I heard a familiar sound that instantly released all my tension.

"You look beautiful." I turned to look at Tyrell who was dressed to impress. A wine colored suit with such intricate pattern and his everso perfect hair. "They are holding a small party with dukes of neighboring nations to prepare before the festival where the foreign goods will also be sold. Some of the biggest deal are made here. It would be too suspicious to cancel it." He proceeded "look out for suspicious people." He hinted. Then, we proceeded to meet Duke Lennox, host of this grand party and duke of Lorvil. We also ended up meeting more people. They were all dressed decently, not too fancy, but still gave a different vibe.

He seemed down to earth and genuinely nice which helped me ease up a little. Though needless to say, I got tired easily at such events. I found myself slowly drifting away from conversation and trying to get myself out of there.

When I reached the garden, I saw Tyrell practicing.

"Mana crystals" he murmured and beautiful crystals surrounded us. They looked like raindrops that were frozen. "Refract" he touched one crystal and a beam of light started passing through it and dispersed. Those dispersed rays hit other crystals and the rays from them hit even more crystals. It was as if the placement of each and every crystal was intentional. I found myself in a cloud of serendipitous colors, it was mesmerizing! It's like aurora borealis but of rainbow colors!

How did he do that? Those crystals that can destroy his enemies with the blink of an eye, he used them to create something so beautiful!

"Do you like it?" He asked with an attractive smile that he always had, yet I never got tired of it.

"It's lovely. I wish I could do that." I chuckled.

"I can always do it for you" he walked towards me and held my hand.

"Did you possibly hear me and Heinrich that day?" He asked. Dammit! What was I gonna say!?
