A half-blood of the eldest gods
Shall reach sixteen against all odds
And see the world in endless sleep
The hero's soul, cursed blade shall reap
A single choice shall end his days
Olympus to preserve or raze
That was the prophecy, the pain in the ass that it was. The reality of the situation was setting in as I stared at the words silently, every cabin representative was in the big house.
Chiron was here, along with Dionysus and Argus.
"Michael, give it to me straight..."
I sighed, running a hand through my hair. The fifteen year old representative of the Athena Cabin nodded, his brown hair in disarray, showing that he hasn't slept well in a few days.
My eyes bore into his as he leaned on the desk as he started speaking.
"We... Haven't figured out much. The first line hints that the target of this is Thalia, but "a single choice shall end his days", says that the target of this damned thing is male..."
He sighed rubbing the bridge of his nose. I couldn't help but feel a twinge of pity, Michael was a good kid, seeing him worried like this didn't sit well with me.
Reaching to the side, I held out my hand to Dionysus. He looked at me for a moment and I raised an eyebrow in return. Sighing, he conjured a can of coke and I handed it to Michael.
He took it, nodding his thanks and opening it, taking a few large gulps. The sugar would help him focus a bit.
Releasing a sigh and placing the can on the table, Michael looked at the paper for a moment.
"The line "The hero's soul, cursed blade shall reap" is too broad. All demigods are referred to as heroes, so it could be literally anyone. It might not even be targeted towards a child Of Zeus, Poseidon or Hades."
He scratched his chin, narrowing his eyes.
"And "And see the world in endless sleep" we have no idea about, could be a metaphor for death, and finally "Olympus to preserve or raze" means that it will effect us along with the gods as a whole."
I nodded, my eyes going back to the paper the prophecy was written on. My mind whirled with thoughts, every possibility running through my mind, everything I knew about Prophecies.
They were self fulfilling, vague and a pain in the ass, the more you tried to stop it from happening, the more you were unknowingly letting it, or even aiding in its fulfilment.
"What do you think we should do, Leonidas?"
Alex asked and I hummed crossing my arms and narrowing my eyes. What was the best thing to do in this situation?
I pondered for a moment, as the silence filled the room.
"Forget about it."
I shrugged unceremoniously as everyone blinked. Chiron looked at me like I just grew a second head.
"What do you mean, my boy?"
I sighed, standing up.
"Exactly that. Forget it, keep it out of your mind, let it fade away from your memory."
Looking at the others, I saw them looking back at me with raised eyebrows.
"The prophecy is too vague, if we try to decipher it further and take steps to prevent it from happening, we will just be aiding it's fulfilment. I think history thought us that much already."
With that, I walked out of the room, heading outside the big house and looking over the camp.
There was nothing we could do right now, so there was no need to worry about it. we would only lose time and our peace of mind.
I hummed, my eyes trailing over to the volleyball court where younger members were playing. I watched for a few seconds before finally starting to walk towards the cabins.
I turned my head to look over my shoulder, raising an eyebrow at Chiron was was walking at his normal pace, which was much faster then my own. meaning he caught up rather quickly.
"Leonidas."
he spoke, and he sounded serious, He was going to question me, I knew, the Greek pantheon was too paranoid for their own good.
I hummed, moving to the side so he could fall in line next to me as I raised an eyebrow at him, gradually changing direction.
"What is it?"
He slowed down looking at me with a worried look as we walked.
"Do you truly think that ignoring the prophecy is wise, my boy? The consequences could be-"
I raised a hand, butting him off.
"The consequences will be worse if we try to stop it, the best we could do was decipher it, we tried, some of it is still unknown."
He sighed, crossing his arms.
"That is true..."
We passed the cabins and Chiron glanced at me, probably wondering where I was going, before looking forward at the Horse stables.
He paused, an uncomfortable expression passing over his face before he cleared his throat.
"Well, I have some other business to attend to, my boy..."
He excused before turning away and walking like he did not despise the place. Sure he was a half horse, but it was just a building where horses were kept, not literal hell itself, jeez.
I hummed, walking inside the building, grabbing a carrot from the bucket next to the door and walking past the horses.
Reaching out with the carrot, it was snatched away instantly as I smiled at the Pegasus that flapped his wings happily.
I reached out, patting his neck.
"Hey there, Chamelot."
I muttered, as the horse nuzzled me. I reached to the side, grabbing the saddle and walking around the majestic beast, as he flapped his wings, excited to finally go out for a ride.
"Sorry we couldn't go out for a flight earlier, buddy, last few days were hectic."
He Pegasus huffed, shaking his head, his black Maine going everywhere for a moment before he fixed it with a flick of his head.
I chuckled, patting his black fur, as I got on, grabbing the handle on the saddle since there were no reigns.
"Alright, Let's fly."
I grinned as Chamelot dashed out of the horse stable and shot up into the air with me on his back.
