Before he could finish, Emma swung the door open and cut him off. "Stop rambling and get in here, you alien worm!"

Bright confused but he stepped inside, closing the door behind him. The room fell into a comfortable silence as Emma made her way to the table, where the assortment of snacks lay spread out.

She sat down and began to pick at the treats, savoring each bite, while Bright watched her from the doorway.

For a moment, neither of them spoke, the tension slowly easing out of the room.
