Chapter 13
(Kelani Pov)
A couple of minutes before
"Its ok Lani go back to sleep" mama said. I laid back down on the pillow going back to sleep. A man yelling scared me out of my sleep. Sitting up on the bed I heard a man yelling 'HOW CAN I CALM DOWN WHEN SHES BEEN LYING TO ME TO THESE WHOLE TIME, YOU ALL KNOW HOW MUCH I HATE LIEARS!'.
I looked on the other side of the bed but I didn't see mama but a big pillow instead. Not seeing her next to me made me panic. Trying to get off the high bed by climbing down the side. Making my way to the door opening it a little I hear mama say 'I didn't asked you guys to tell me about your pasts'. 'What if she's in danger' I decided to go in the hall to see what was going on.
When I looked down the hall I saw the the guy punch mama in the face. Angered by the fact that he hit her I starting running down the hall but stopped when I heard mama say 'its fine let him get all of that anger out'. Does mama want to feel pain and suffering or is it the curse. That Catanlia women walked over to mama and slapped her hard and saying 'Your doing all of these just to make us hate you'. These is all my fault she can never be happy and pushes everyone away. Tears started falling down my face.
Thats when the four people saw me standing in the hall looking at me with shock and angry expressions but mama still didn't see me. The guy who punched mama in the face started walking towards me. If only my body was bigger and stronger I would stand a chance against him.
My body senses danger and I take a step back trebling and crying even more I feel so helpless. I looked at mama direction for help. Thats when she finally looked up at me with a panic expression on her face. She started running to me.
(3rd Person Pov)
The present
Jackson, Briyah and Catalina look at Lani crying in shock. "Mikeal wouldn't hurt an innocent kid right" Briyah said in a panic. "We don't know even with his anger his mind goes blank and start hitting things" Jackson said. Catalina started running to stop Mikeal from doing something to the kid. Jackson and Briyah finally snapped out of the daze they where in and started running to stop Mikeal from getting close to the kids.
Mikeal walked down the hall looking at the small child crying and didn't know how to feel about it and he let his mind go blank. The three in the back saw Amirah running past Mikeal and shield Lani from Mikeal. Shocked Lani grabbed her mamas shirt. Lani stood there frozen the smell of blood was strong. Lani look up at her mom and saw that her nose and mouth was bleeding. "Ma" Lani cried out. "Amirah come on let me see the kid" Mikeal said. The others trying to stop him from getting any closer to kid.
Looking down at her daughter Amirah didn't want Lani to get hurt again and released her darkness in the hall. Everyone in the hall looked at Amirah covered in darkness. "These is why you shouldn't have gotten close to that kid" Jackson said to Mikeal. "You idiot you made her release her darkness , you better hope Amirah doesn't kill you" Catalina said. "Amirah he wasn't going to hurt her please snap out of it and put your darkness away" Briyah said.
Inside the darkness Amirah didn't know what to do she held Lani who still cried in her chest. Listening to what Briyah said Amirah let made all of the darkness go away. Sitting in the middle of the hall the group saw Amirah hugging Lani to her chest. The four people in the back didn't make a sound or even moved they just look at Amirah hugging lani. "Lani let me see that beautiful face of yours" Amirah said to Lani forgetting that the others are still in the hall.
Lani look up and her mama face and still saw blood on it. Touching her mamas face "Your hurt and bleeding. I don't like to see you hurt" Lani said while crying trying to wipe the blood off her mama faces. Amirah didn't even realized that she was bleeding looking down at Lani in shock. "I just had a little talk with my friends and got a little hurt from a game we played" Amirah said. "No I saw it they yelled at you and hit you in the face mama. They are bad people they hurt you." Lani said.
