Meeting goals - 21

Edge found himself in a dense forest, with no recollection of how he had been teleported there.

Perhaps it was a consequence of the legacy challenge. The good news was that he was still on the Eastern continent.

Summoning his Legacy weapon, a beautiful silvery-black mace magically appeared in his right hand. It felt strange, yet exhilarating to hold it.He marveled at how he had acquired this legacy.

Perhaps in the future, he would uncover more clues about its origins, but for now, he intended to wreak havoc… quietly, of course.

Nearby, a pond provided a reflective surface, and as Edge checked his appearance, he was taken aback. His real-world height was 6 feet, but his gaming character stood at an imposing 7 feet, with a muscular yet flexible build, an eight-pack, a broad chest, and a scruffy beard. He was unrecognizable.

"Wait a second, why am I shirtless?" He was about to ponder this when he felt a tug. To his surprise, he found a tail connected to his lower back.

"Well, that's solid proof I have the legacy now. Maybe I should hide this tail by wrapping it around my waist like a belt," Edge thought, and the tail followed as if it had always been there.

He checked the map and saw that the nearest city was only 100 kilometers away. With his new powers, he could fly at a speed of 100 km/h without expending any MP.

Taking a step back, he dug his foot into the ground and jumped high. Soon, he was flying effortlessly, as if walking on air. He could create his own momentum to stop or balance himself, and it required little concentration.

An hour later, he arrived in the city and headed to the nearest relics shop.

"Good day, young… I mean, lord," the shopkeeper stammered, almost losing his composure at the sight of the 7-foot giant without a shirt.

"Yeah, I get that a lot. I'm no lord, please be at ease with me," Edge said, trying to play it cool.

"How may I help you, sir?" the shopkeeper asked politely.

"I need a mask, one that can alter my appearance. As you can see, it's not very comfortable being this huge," he said.

The shopkeeper, understanding the difficulty, immediately presented various relics, and Edge inspected them with his skill.

"Money is not an issue. Please show me the best."

"Well, then I would suggest this black one," the shopkeeper said, handing him a plain, all-black mask. "It's an elite relic, one that might suit you very well. Once it's on your face, no one else can remove it. It also covers your body with black armor and reduces your frame.

The black armor is just an illusion, so you'll need to wear other armor underneath. However, it can't give you a different face; it will always be a simple, plain black mask."

"How much?" Edge asked.

"50 gold," the shopkeeper replied, wondering if Edge would buy it, as a good mask typically cost only 15 gold. To his surprise, a pouch containing 50 gold coins appeared on the counter, and Edge was already heading to the sword section.

On his way out, Edge also bought two daggers, activating the mask so that he would appear as an assassin to others. Now, he was 6 feet tall with a slim build, and the daggers at his waist clearly marked him as an assassin.

An hour had passed, and Edge didn't know what to do next.

"Man, in all those manhwas and web novels, the MC always has something to do, like it's so normal. Why can't it be me?"

"Damn, I really don't have many goals or dreams, except for killing that guy Blade. Dear God, if you're listening, please guide me! ... Man, I'm so stupid..."

"Hello," a deep yet soothing voice interrupted him.

At that moment, Edge didn't know if there were any gods in the game, but he might be inclined to believe there were.

"Oh, hi, dude. How can I help you?" Edge tried to sound as friendly as possible.

"Actually, I wanted to ask how I can help you, because you were literally screaming your thoughts out loud, not just in your mind," the man said.

Edge didn't know how, but even with his black armor, he felt himself turning red. Seeing his reaction, the man continued.

"Hey buddy, it's alright. I know you've never played games and you're a noob, and that's why I'm here to help you," the man said, and Edge took a closer look.

A tall man, around 6'3", with long black hair styled in a bobcut bun, blue eyes, and fair skin. He was slim but clearly muscular. In Edge's mind, he was probably the most beautiful man he had ever seen, and on top of that, he seemed kind.

"Yeah, actually I just received my lega—" he couldn't continue because the man shut him up with his hand and quickly dragged him to a secluded spot away from prying eyes.

"Dude, what are you doing? You literally started with the most guarded secret of your life." Now, it was Edge's turn to cover his own mouth. This man was so kind that without even noticing, Edge was about to tell him everything. There was something really off about him, like his aura was magnificent.

Following the initial awkward conversation, Edge confided in him. He told the man how he received his legacy after a series of accidents, but now he just felt empty and lost.

"Don't worry, I understand completely. It's normal to feel that way."

"Really?"

"Yes, and for your solution, I can think of many things, like joining a guild or group for a while. They can provide you with some quests."

"Nope, I want to go solo. Hey, do you mind if I join you? You seem like a nice guy and also a solo player."

"I don't mind, actually. But is it really alright with you? I'm planning to start a guild in the future. Right now, I'm just working my way up to become one of the best players in the game, and perhaps you can help me."

So, Edge and the mysterious man decided to team up. Edge didn't mind following this man's orders, as it was much simpler than overthinking on his own. He decided to accompany him on his quest.

"I almost forgot, what's your name, buddy?"

And then, the most absurd thing happened, as if the pieces of a puzzle were fitting together.

"Ram," the man said.
