I want that b*tch gone!

Emma noticed the weakness in Daniel's eyes and hesitated. She shouldn't be like this. She shouldn't have any form of sympathy for the man that caused her so much pain.

Yet here she was, letting him into her space, giving him a place to sleep, tending to his wounds, and now, hesitating to remove herself from his embrace.

She was letting him tug at her heartstrings again and even as her mind yelled for her to push him away, her heart seemed to want her to forget everything that happened in the past and lean into his arms.

Daniel noticing no sign of resistance from Emma, pulled her tighter into his arms but left enough room for her to push him away.

He buried his head in the nook of her neck and closed his eyes with a satisfied smile. Even if it was just for a short moment, he wanted to savor this moment.

Emma closed her eyes, a sigh escaping her lips in surrender. There was a tenderness in this unexpected moment that was hard to resist.
