Jinx
A wake from my sleep with a paining shoulder. I slowly open my eyes to see that I was strapped to a chair. I look up and see the two boys I fought, hopefully last night, standing with another much older man holding the sword I forged. He stares at the sword then looks at me, noticing I was awake. Something about this man was very familiar.
"You." I say rememberig his face.
"Good, you're up." he replies. He points the blade at me and I notice the one boy shift uneasily on his feet as he stares at the blade pointed to my heart, "Whats your name?"
"Jinx," I reply.
"Well then, Jinx, what are you doing here? What would be so important that you would risk coming here to forge a sword? Beautiful craftsmanship, I must add."
I don't reply at the comment the man made. I owe no compliance to the man who murdered my mother. I just sit there and stare at him with as much hatred as I could muster.
My magic begins to seep through my skin in colours of anger when the man smiled. Suddenly the chair sent electric shocks throughout my body making me cry out. It felt as though every nerve in my body was attacked by the electricity.
"I think that you will find that compliance will be better in your favour. I will get the answers I need, one way or the other." the man leaves the room, and I am left with the mirrored twins. They both share the same green eyes which remind me of a certain someone. The only visible difference in the boys was their hair, where the one was curly, the other was straight.
"Hello Jinx," the curly haired boy greeted, "My name is Azriel and this is my brother, Ariel." he nods to his sibling.
"The sons of Fiona." I whisper, I knew I recognized their eyes.
"Wait, you knew our mother?" Azriel asks taking a step forward. I nod and Azriel smiles, "She would tell us a lot about the Mages and--"
"Of course she did." I interrupt. I wasn't in the mood to hear their entire childhood story, "Your mother is a mage, how could she not tell you about everything." Both boys look at each other in shock before turning back to me.
"What did you say?" Azriel asks
"You didn't know?" I ask confused.
"Did you say is? don't you mean was?" Ariel finally speaks
"No, I mean is. Your mother is alive." I state. I don't get to speak further as Azriel leaves the room and Ariel follows shortly after, leaving me there is confusion. Fiona told me she left her sons, not that she faked her death. Oh I see a long day ahead of me.
Ariel
"Azriel! Azriel wait!" I call as I run after my brother.
"He lied! Father lied!" Azriel yells with tears in his eyes.
"Maybe father doesn't know." I offer.
"No Ariel. Jinx said mother was a mage. Father must have found out and tried to get rid of her." Azriel says as he wipes away his tears.
"Let's not jump to conclusions, Az. Let's talk with father." I say placing a hand on Azriel's shoulder.
"How do we know that father won't lie?"
"How do we know the mage isn't lying?" I counter. Azriel looks down at his feet. He wants nothing more than to know that our mother is alive and so do I, but it just doesn't seem real. Losing her changed him and it took a long time before he recovered, I can only imagine what kind of wounds this news is opening up again.
He looks back up at me before he nods and we both head over to father's office. Once we knocked and entered, Azriel immediately throws the questions.
"Is mother alive?" Father looks shocked at this question, "And don't bother lying, the mage told us."
"Of course she did-" father begins but Azriel stops him with tears in his eyes as he whispers, "Please father."
Father sighs before placing his quill down.
"Your mother is alive." Azriel gasps and takes a seat as though his legs can't support him any more, "I knew she was a Mage when we got married, but I didn't care, I was so in love at the time, but it wasn't my hand your mother was promised to." father looks up at us both, "She was promised to a mage prince by her father when she was young so she ran away." father takes a breath before he continues, "After we had the two of you, everything was perfect, I had planned on sending a proposal of peace to the magen people and when they arrived they attacked the castle. They burned down several villiages and muredered innocent people. To stop all this your mother agreed to go with the mages, if they promised not to hurt us. I have never seen your mother since that day. The mage prince stole her from me. I fight the mages everyday so that I can free her. So that she can come home. To me. To us."
"Why haven't you told us?" I ask.
"Tell me, if I told you your mother was alive and held captive by the mages, would you leave as soon as you could to save her?"
"Of course we would." Azriel replies.
"That is why I didn't tell you. I can't lose my sons as well." I look down at Azriel who rubs the back of his neck.
"What do we do?" I ask looking at my father.
"We
wait. Maybe the Mage can tell us something useful." father replies.
